Just ordered Hobbicolor bulk inks. Will review them soon.
Does anyone have a ICC profile for Hoobicolor?
My perfect profile would be Hobbicolor, 4 clr BCI-6, and Kirklands paper. Anything close appreciated.
Thanks!
Heh, yeah well it's a very subjective thing. Like wine or something I guess, something I know little about.
I do however have the eyes to pick out color shifts. As a professional artist I'm picky about color. I don't expect perfection, and even the OEM inks have issues, but something close to...
nifty-stuff.com - Yeah, I agree and would generally prefer to know who the ink maker is, unless of course the prefilled generic carts are consistantly good, and cheap. :)
I'd invest in refilling bulk ink, if I knew what to buy. $50+ for 20oz of ink, before I even know if I like it... And if I...
CanonPhreak - thanks for that recommendation. Will look into them. Have heard pretty good things about Image Specialists ink.
Does anyone have a comparison between IS and other popular inks, such as Formulabs for example?
fotofreek - are MIS and IS the same? So, you bought the hobbicolors...
That's a pretty positive review for Hobbicolors. Any idea who makes the actual ink? They're just a reseller I think. And how do you even order from them? The site has no shopping/sales capability I see.
I was unsure where to order from and reluctant to start refilling without more 3rd party ink...
Everyone seems to have a favorite inks, and for each of those someone else says it's color is off, or it clogs, or something. So, what inks are people using and happy with?
Also, are there custom profiles for the ip4000 or ip5000 (or other 4clr BCI-6) with any 3rd Party Inks?
I've tried...
Any idea when they switched? The last arrowjets I got had a heavy magenta tint, which makes me wonder if it was formulabs. But I don't know fpr certain.
ARGH!
I knew it. I had the same problem with my Alotofthings ink. Way too magenta amd dialing it down to acceptable levels destroys reds, making them orange. So apparently Formulabs changed the formula, and has now switched back... I think. Anyone ordered inks recently and verified this?

Lastly, what's the final word on best empty carts? I've seen several threads, not sure which empty cart "won" int he end. Any reccomendations?
Also, what photo black and pigment black have people decided on?
Thanks
Thanks for the info.
I also confirmed from Alotofthings that they do NOT guarantee what manufacturer's ink is in the Arrow carts. According to an email, they Arrow company may change inks and not notify Alotofthings.
In a nut shell, there is no way to really know what ink is in Arrow carts...

I just sent mail to Alotofthings trying to fogure out what's going on with the Arrow carts, and according to them they don't have a Frank working there, and never did....
Sure that was the correct name?
Just noticed something odd about alotofthings.com
Their bulk Formulabs ink only comes in 4oz or larger size, and thier warranty page stipulates returns are only accepted for 2oz or smaller sizes.
So, how is one supposed to actually test their products?
I ordered prefilled carts to test...
Thanks for the good info.
My experience with Alotofthings.com "Arrow/Sky Horse" arts is pretty dissapointing. Bad shifts to magenta in shadows, but ok mids, meaning it's about impossible to correct both. Also, very annoying that there are so many questions about whether Alotofthings.com is...

Thanks for the info. So your "arrow" carts came in different packaging than mine. hmm.. Sounds pretty difficult to know what ink one is getting in prefilled carts. Well, that's too bad.
> I did talk to Frank at Alotofthings several months ago and he did tell me that the Chinese firm...
hi foto-
Are you using Formulabs bulk? How is it?
The "arrow" carts that I got from alotofthings.com came in a blue box labeled "skyhorse" with an "arrow" sticker on it.
I thought the relabeling sketchy at the time..... It wouldn't suprise me if the chinese makers use various brands and...
Thanks but the profile is super yellow, and the method mentioned for Photoshop already tried.
Posts in other threads have that covered.
Thanks anyways though.
Sorry but it's huge, and besides it would be a waste of time and makes no sense. I have many images that exibt the same problem. Pick an image off the web and try for yourself.
Besides, if you're happy with what you have, you're happy.
Sorry, I just don't want to waste more time with more...
> Maybe our monitors are calibrated with very different color shifts.
Mine is color calibrated to be accurate, and is a Mitsubishi 22" the CRT used for professional color accurate monitors. As I've pointed out before, the Formulabs produces ok enough mid tones, but not shadows. That obviously...
