Experiencing more problems with Canon CLI-8 yellow cartridges

Pharmacist, Persistence often pays off! I was having the same trouble with a CLI8 Yellow cartridge . . . a few flashes than no solid red light. On about the 7th try, the solid red light finally went on and now the cartridge is working fine. Hopefully, it will again resist the next time I try...

Experiencing more problems with Canon CLI-8 yellow cartridges

I was wondering if there is any difference regarding difficulty of resetting the Yellow CLI8 cartridge if one resets it before the low or empty message or after the low or empty message. My common sense tells me there would be no difference, but I may be wrong in reality. Any thoughts out there?

    Canon Chip Resetter Reports

I have successfully been using the German Durchstich Refill Method with the RedSetter, but have a question. Are there any problems with resetting the chip with the RedSetter before the chip reports that the ink is low? When one cartridge is reported as low, I plan the top off and reset all...

German Durchstich refill method for Canon carts with pictures

Pharmacist, Thanks for your patience and input. It is appreciated! I let the cartridge sit overnight. This morning I again inserted the needle, this time taking care to carefully spin the needle as I slowly pushed in through the sponge and into the ink chamber. I moved the needle in and out...

German Durchstich refill method for Canon carts with pictures

Pharmacist, Sorry, I seem to have had a senior moment. I typed "foam" instead of "sponge". The problem is that some of the sponge has been pushed into the ink chamber by the needle. It appears as if the needle is partially injecting ink into the sponge which has been pushed into the ink...

German Durchstich refill method for Canon carts with pictures

The needle is hitting the prism. The problem is, so is the foam. There may not be an angular gap around the needle for the air to flow through.

German Durchstich refill method for Canon carts with pictures

My problem is that I am not able to fill the ink chamber more than half before ink starts to come out of the vent maze, the ink outlet, and the hole I drilled by the ink outlet. Pressure seems to build up when ink is injected into the ink chamber. How do I get the ink chamber full so that the...

German Durchstich refill method for Canon carts with pictures

I'm using an #18 sharp needle. I probably should have been more careful. When I met some resistance I forced the needle through, thus probably causing the problem. If I can't somehow remove that part of the sponge that was forced through the hole, I guess I'll have to drill a hole in the top...

German Durchstich refill method for Canon carts with pictures

I have just encountered my first problem using the German Durchstich refill method with a CLI8 cartridge in my MP530. When I pushed the needle through the sponge, some of the sponge traveled with the tip of the needle through to the ink chamber and is stuck at the top of the ink chamber but...

Best non-OEM filled cartridges for Canon Pixma MP780?

Mike, You're making a mistake not filling your own OEM cartridges. There is good quality refill ink out there and it's a snap to refill using the German Durchstich refill method - http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2465&p=1. I can refill a cartridge, with no mess, in not much...

Walmart's new Ink Jet Photo Labs

There's an interesting forum over at Digital Photography Review concerning Walmart using Fuji ink jet technology for their photo lab. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1003&message=27844745 I'm wondering how their ink would work in my Canon printers, and if it will ever get on...

NEW CANON PRINTERs and Cartridges MP630

I guess those of us who have invested in a Redsetter should start stockpiling a few printers that use CLI8 cartridges when they are on special with rebates. I know that's what I am going to do!

    Canon Chip Resetter Reports

The Redsetter that I ordered from Michele through her special offer to InkJet Forum members arrived today. The Masthead on the accompanying paperwork was from InkJetReset.com and stated that they were the "Exclusive US Distributors for RKS Technik Products". I feel more secure in dealing with an...

    Canon Chip Resetter Reports

Well, I finally "bit the bullet" and ordered a Redsetter from Michele. The 2 year guarantee from an America company was the deciding factor. I'm not unhappy checking the ink levels manually in my Canon MP530, but I just got another MP530 (It's a sweet machine!) for my wife. She'll just get...

    Canon Chip Resetter Reports

I know I can order the RedSetter from over seas. I was hoping that some companies in the U.S. would carry the RedSetter, so we could get some decent postal rates and easier customer service if there is a problem with the unit. Binkie

Has Canon changed models of the MP530 to disallow reset?

I have an MP530 and have had no trouble in disabling the ink monitor. I am now refilling and running all cartridges with the ink monitor disabled. I doubt that Cannon would reengineer the printer to change this. It is a built in documented feature of the printer. If yours is not working and your...

    Canon Chip Resetter Reports

Fred, If you have no present need for the chip resetter, I'd wait until I need one. The price should be going down (hopefully) and things could change over time (improvements on resetters or Canon modifying their chips so as not to work with the present redsetter). Keep your options opened as...

    Canon Chip Resetter Reports

Big Guy, Thanks for the input. I'm going to wait until the redsetter is available in the US for about $25.00. That's my sweet spot. Until then, I'll just monitor my ink levels by hand and hope I don't forget and ruin a head. Hopefully, a $25 redsetter wiull be available in the US soon. I just...
