When should you pitch bulk ink.
I've heard it has a 2 year shelf life.
I presume you should buy new shortly after that?
I've seen lumps (large clogs) in my older inks, but around the lumps there's still liquid ink. Is that liquid ink usable, or is there a strong possibility of it causing...
I've looked there recently. Didn't see one for my printer.
You would think some DIY refiller business would be on top of this problem.
The parts in the Toner carts only last for so long, so why on earth they're not making them available to DIY toner refill consumers, so they can do a good job...
I didn't know if you'd need to seal the bottom of the head, or do it with some moistened pad, or something like that.
I can't remember how the print head arrived when I purchased the printer new (the i960) - if it had a seal I removed etc.
I only deal with the older printers. I'm planning to...
I'm beginning to think the Toner cartridge industry is as closed shop as the printer manufactures ink cartridge business.
At least DIY people have got around the ink cartridge stranglehold.
Why has nobody got around the problem of "no toner cartridge internals for DIY'ers"?
Surely there's a...
I did a quick search, probably not hard enough, to find out what the purpose of / difference is between the Canon i, s and pixma series / lines of printers.
I was initially wondering what the difference is between an i860 (or i960) and a s900, and that made me question what the various series...
Thanks for your response ghwellsjr. Since I found this i860 and hearing about the pigment ink cart problems I've been running the nozzle check every day. Maybe I can reduce that based on what you say?
I have another question related to clogging.
What do you recommend doing to mothball a...
It's really only the i960 that is "MY" problem, out of my printers, and as I said, I think it clogged early on through lack of use and certainly the Microcenter cheepo generic carts they sold a few years ago that "instantly" eliminated some of the colors - I took them all back for a refund.
The...
I think I'm going to go with what I used last time, after all. Image Specialists, Repeat-o-type (I think that might be Inktec?) based place.
The inks seemed good and produced good color.
I think I got the clog problems because of 1/ not enough printing (leaving it sit), and 2/ I installed...
I've searched and only found wholesalers/importers, but does anyone know of a RETAIL source for the internals of a toner cartridge. 98A for a Laserjet 4 ?
I need an (some) OPC drum.
I might buy wipers with them.
Thanks
(Edit 10/24 - The nozzle check pattern can be found in the Quick Start manual on the Canon website, although it's only in Black and White) (Edit 11/02 - See P39 (adobe acrobat P41))
Does anyone know a website showing a full/good nozzle check grids for the i9100, or can anyone post a photo...
Yes ghwellsjr, it's an international site isn't it, thanks. I'm in the US. I'm looking forward to hear what you and some of the other main helpers suggest.
Thanks
Hi
I've seen messages on sources for bulk inks (not carts). Time has moved on and we're approaching 2010.
There should now be more experience with bulk ink sources.
Which source seems to be one of the best for no clog 3eBK pigment ink.
Which source seems to be one of the best sources for the...
Also, when I was trying to clean the head from the rubber gasket/holes in ceramic side of the head, I could see light through the hole of the nozzle bank that was clogged. Water wouldn't go through those nozzles, but it did through most of the others.
Thanks Grandad. Yes, I too saw the clear caulk like glue, but it was just used on the board edges - I think any old 100% silicone would do for that. The glue(s) I'm talking about are whatever glue is used to stick down that dark brown electronic parallel plastic ribbon to the base of the print...
(edit 21st Oct - FYI - I didn't see the prior post, thanks Ron, I must have been creating my post when you posted. I got there anyway)
OK Ron, I wasn't really wanting to wade thru the postings again without knowing the info was "there", but as you didn't reply I had no alternative.
Luckily, it...
Not a lot. Worth buying just for the ink carts.
I think I've read on here and other places that it's the pigment ink that gives the main problem, so this i860 and others with the 3eBK cart must be the printers with this pigment ink clogging issue (I don't know if my other i960 uses pigment ink...
OK Ron, I think I've come across this posting seevral times.
On page 1
Photo 1 shows the print head.
Photo 2 shows the printhead again at a slightly different angle.
photo 3 shows the rubber gasket on the bottom of the black plastic cart holder.
photo 4 shows what's inder the gasket on the...
Hi,
I was looking at an i860 printer (to get around my i960 woes).
I ran the nozzle check pattern on the i860.
All the colors printed, but its black pigment 3eBK ink pattern was completely missing from the top of the sheet.
Is that a dire situation on these i860 printers? Is it not worth...
