Thanks ghwellsjr, I somehow still haven't got around to dealing with the i5000 and I don't seem to be able to find any time for dealing with an inkjet at present (other than emergency), so I'll just have to decline your offer. I was hoping to do a photo rebuild of one. It will have to wait until...
If water flows through it at a good rate. If it doesn't, then whichever color is slow or stopping the water flow is very likely clogged.
I've still got to get around to this!!!!! Christmas time...
Wow, thanks. :D This is a pretty neat forum / network of printer enthusiasts.
Let me have some time to check (and find) the ip5000 and study what condition it's in and check if the head will flow good on all ink colors. I've been going to mothball this one but have never got around to it...
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a shelf life on Toner cartridges, and HP Laserjet specifically is that makes a difference?
What goes wrong with them.
Toner?
Other parts in them?
How quickly do they go bad.
Thanks
:/
I think I posted on another post Leo - Various old carts I've collected that I know nothing about - age/ink contents, but it's a bunch of free Canon carts that I can use new ink in.
I'm flushing old carts TODAY - Any ideas on what I could use as an "non hazardous" Algae killer pre treatment?
Fill with vinegar first, or something like that?
:/
Thanks :D
Excellent. It looks like the article's been tidied up a little since I last read it. Thanks for noting the search for cleaning fluid, although I'm hoping to avoid problems by keeping the ink flowing and possibly using windex on the purge port thing regularly, helping the head and the...
Hi all,
I want to clean out some BCI 6 cartridges.
I read the details and saw the tools you were developing a few years ago and I'd like to see that post again - anyone have the link to that?
But it's been a few years since that, so I'm interested as to what the generally accepted best/easiest...
Thanks ;)
The printhead looks almost the same as the i960's except on the i960 the head drops into the cart holder, and it looks like it's the other way around on the i9100, the cart holder is in the printhead.
You would think if they had just used the same head for all of these BCI 6 printers...
If it's like the i960 print head, do you know how they join the upper and lower pieces of plack plastic? Has anyone broken into one and posted photos. The molding process has left the ink channels routes identifiable in the plastic, travelling in to the center as it moves the ink towards the...
It seems to have the same Grid nozzle check pattern as the s900, and there's a color nozzle check pattern for it out at the canon website.
see this link:

s900 nozzle check - how do you do a standalone one using the buttons?
Nozzle checks can be found in the following manuals that can be obtained at the Canon website (see their drivers/manuals section).
User Guide P76 has a color nozzle check.
Quick Setup Guide Page 24 (but P31 in adobe...
I don't know about the program or the age of your printer, but check to see if there's a newer version of your software on the Canon website. Just use the search box for your printer code, then click on the printer and it'll come up with some tabs. Select the drivers tab. You should see the...
if algae form in inks, it's probably best to store them at a low temperature?
What about refrigerate?
Risk - what happens to the ink if the refrigerator decides it's going to go into freeze mode, and freezes the ink?
I presume dye and pigment inks can't be frozen?
and I suppose that brings up...
I read the link. I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Wishing for it all to get better.
I'm glad I asked my silly question - I got a good reply.
I knew about there being a roughly 2 year life for inks, so since hearing that I've always wondered about cartridges in the stores, or especially...
Another good reason for not buying a "chip" cart printer.
Getting the all the ink out "gently" (not forced out) with windex is probably the key, along with the paper towels and Ziplock.
