No problem mixing any inks, save the color variations-- extremely little between Canon and MIS, greater between Canon and inkgrabber cyan and photocyan only.
If you need EXACT mid-tone grays- stick with MIS
If this is not a great issue, inkgrabber is fine.
I've been pretty clear about this on my web site--
I DO NOT LIKE the MIS refillable carts-- never said I did. In fact, I state that the refill holes and plugs are a total pain in the ass.
The are partially recessed as well, so even though you may enlarge the diameter them with a small swiss...
Yes, if you look at my ink test shootout page, I state that the inkgrabber cyan and photocyan are a slightly different hue than the OEM Canon and MIS cyan and photocyan.
For everyday use and casual photo use, this is not an issue-- for example, I print color CD and DVD graphics labels, and the...
Thanks for the thanks.
ah yes, Canon's have their highs- and lows- but its mostly highs compared to others, so I'm sticking with them.
I've got three i960s these days-- in the same week I had a circuit board go out on one, and the waste tank full on the other--- both under warranty, just took...
This has to do with the QUALITY settings on Canon printers. Some paper pre-sets automatically increase the quality. Just change the quality settings to FINE whenever you can, and you sharpen the very fine edges.

MIS Ink shootout added to http://www.neilslade.com/Papers/inktest.html
Compare two cheap ass inks to Canon-- you will be surprised what you find out.
MIS ink is 1/12 th the cost of Canon ink when bought in 4 oz refills.
Later! Happy Printing!

OKAY- I've added the MIS inks to my ink shootout page-
MIS remains my favorite ink, because it color matches Canon inks extremely closely, and at 1/12 the price when you buy 4 oz bottles and refill your carts.
Again, I use Computer Friends replacable blug rubber plugs to shut the refill hole...
No comment as the i960 has only one black.
And I don't have an 860 sitting around.
Refill ink carts-- then ink is dirt cheap anyway, $1 a cart with MIS bulk ink in 4oz bottles.
I began doing another comparison of various inks today spurred on by subtle differences in colors I detected while printing out some CD labels today-- will update both on the site and here, providing printed color bar charts for easy comparison... stay tuned
Laser jet printers are THE option for much of your office work--
Lasers jets print black and white cocuments far faster and cheaper, at better quality, than any ink jet made. Of course, the downside is, color laser jets are absurdly expensive. So, their main function for most of us is...
I've recently added some links and further comments regarding the new Epson R800 pigment ink printer. See the Printer Shoot Out Quiz page at http://www.neilslade.com/Papers/printtest.html
See you there!
Doing comparison research on printers for my PRINTER SHOOT OUT on
http://www.neilslade.com/Papers/printtest.html
I found out many details about the Epson R800, their newer, faster, PIGMENT ink printer.
This is undoubtedly a very very good printer for persons needed permanent pigment ink for...
Just got a flyer from MicroCenter-
they have Canon i960 printers on sale for $119-
this is anextraordinary printer at the clearance price-
my choice among ALL printers now available for photo and general work.
the reason its so cheap is because it's last year's model, and has been...
I get lots of reports of good and bad company ink from alternative manufacturers.
Typically, the off the shelf generic ink is not suitable because each printer prints in a slightly different way- so you can't use the same formulas in Epson printers that you would in Canon printers.
The...
Dear Ink Jet Stuff Group members--
Brain Explorer Rob Ludlow has put together a full function forum to replace the limited ad-infested Yahoo Groups forum, and I've transfered everybody to this new forum-
The setup is much better, no ads, and it provides a much better way to post and handle...
