Thank you for your replies IanYY,
I am aware that the Canon Outlet items are refurbished however , like you I purchased several 4200`s a couple of years ago for the ink carts and the printheads, which were included at that time , the inks were in the Retail "tent" cartons , some were packed in...
"or you can send one of the cartridges this way and do it that way round"
Thanks websnail, the second suggestion would appear to be most practical, but I will leave it for a few days to see if anyone surfaces that is already using this 7Day/reset scenario. I will PM you when ready regarding...
My thanks Websnail and Strobemonkey for your prompt and extensive replies to my queries.
All I need to know now , from experienced users of the 7 Day Compat Carts are the re-setter capabilities of the 7 DayShop Compatible Carts, can they be re-set or not. ?
My pre-occupation with 7Day is...
I am considering buying a Canon machine which uses the 520/521 carts as I have acquired a full set of empty OEM Canon carts and 4 sets , (at the moment!) , of empty compatible carts purchased originally from 7Dayshop.com (UK). I do not have a 521 printer (yet) , the empty carts are from a...
I made a replacement mat for a Canon BC6200 some time ago. It was comprised of 3 or 4 layers of Greenhouse Capilliary Matting type felt, combined together to equate to the original thickness and shape . Capillary matting is usually green or charcoal in colour and obtainable from your local...
After you have reset the chip on the cart , the cart (upon being re-inserted) , tells the Printer that it now has a full complenent of ink. This is regardless of whether you have put in a full complement of ink , a partial amount of ink or no ink at all in the cart.
The printer then counts...
I have a similar problem................but with CD printing trays............I have 3 sorts , B , C , and F. used on 4000, 4200, 5200 and MP600, and they are not all interchangeable
You put the wrong one in and you get all sorts of alarming messages........and the tray being literally "spat"...
No it wont. I quite often end up doing this when I cannot "find" the ink reservoir exit slit. Not very hard to do if you are using 2" medical sharp needles. The size of hole you make is no different than the hole you made to gain access from outside the cart in the first place, and that does...
ALL TAKE NOTE.!!!! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE . I have ruined 2 , perfectly good , previously unused , printers this way . Where a printer "dies" of uncertain causes , the head accompanies it to its grave !
In addition to ghwells excellent advice above...............It cannot be stressed enough that patience over a period of a few days in reapeating the above steps very often pays dividends.
Recently I had a PG5 stop printing entirely...........after a few hours of some of the above I managed to...
I think the reason the chipped cart still has the prism is that it was cheaper to leave in rather than redesign it out and perhaps it can be resurrected sometime by Canon if needed , i.e a move away from the chip.
I for one will continue to believe it is not to be trusted and will continue to...
I think I already know ......without trying to print with an empty chamber and causing an air-lock /and /or frying the head.
The optical prism (although still present) at the bottom of the chamber , became redundant the day Canon added chips to the carts. The statement that the Optical sensor...
I have long suspected that the optical detection of an empty chamber no longer works , empty chambers are decided by Nozzle Firing Count alone being reached.
I have just carried out the following experiment :-
Printer = MP600
Canon PG5 Large Black = Empty purchased off web many months ago ...
I wince a bit at the "until hands and face bleed" , but I wash with soapy water several times until the hand staining has paled but will not reduce any more. This softens the skin and opens up the pores which makes the staining more amenable to the next stage.
Then I use one of those small...
Have you tried cleaning and deep cleaning of the black cart which can be selected via the Preferences/Maintenance tabs ?......If its the big Black the PG5 this may get the ink flowing again .
Terrific post..........Pictures and bubble text at their very best!.........It was a pleasure to read it , even though I dont have these sort of carts!
(makes me feel like getting one of these difficult printers, just to try it !).........This is the standard I think we all should aspire...
From what I remember the codes themselves are to do with manufacture of the chips, the colour designation of a chip is carried out seperately , i.e. the chip is "told "what colour its going to be , regardless of the code , but I could be wrong , if so someone else out there will tell us...
For me the geometry of the "top hole " method is the main drawback. The "bottom" distance is 4 cm to the entrance to the reservoir , the "top" distance is 5 cm. My needle length is 5 cm. This means that 1 cm protudes into the reservoir tank , which is preferable to "waiting at the doorway"...
Sorry , just went to the Canon uk site to check the spec.................".Two Sided Printing Available by manual operation using plain paper in A4, B5, A5, Letter & 13 x 18cm sizes (Windows only) "
so its correct................but pretty poor in my opinion , .............perhaps at the...
