Hey all,
Just wanted to share a quick experience with a new scanner I got to try out — it’s called Trackit by Revopoint, and it’s launching on Kickstarter on May 28, 10AM ET.
It’s an optical tracking 3D scanner (so no markers/stickers needed) that uses blue laser for scanning — which seems to do really well with surface detail and shiny stuff. I tested it on a 30mm coin, and the amount of detail it captured was surprisingly good. Even small scratches showed up in the mesh. The whole scan took maybe a few seconds.
What I liked most was that I didn’t have to waste time sticking markers everywhere or setting up a complex scanning environment. It just... worked. And for those of us who like to scan objects to print later — especially things with fine detail or odd shapes — this feels like a solid tool to have around.
It outputs a watertight, clean model that I didn’t really need to do much cleanup on before slicing. Haven’t tried it on larger parts yet, but so far, so good.
Not affiliated or anything — just thought some folks here might be interested, especially if you’ve been thinking of upgrading or adding scanning to your workflow.
Happy to share more impressions if anyone’s curious.
