So, long time canon 100 user here, just decided it was time to surrender. It has been rejuvenated 3 times and this last go around I gave in. Putting her down, I just picked up a new 200 pro. And yes I'm one of those that never pay for OEM ink, I just do not see the difference and $80 compare to $14 is good enough for me.

Looking on the net to my surprise, there is no cheap ink. So I guess Canon finally figured out how to make ink that no one can copy? There is no way I'm going to pay $100 just to print, that stupid I can go to kinko's for that. Is there no option other then return this print for me?

I guess I can get the refills and dreadfully use 100 ink and get crappy results, but man is this disappointing.

Understating full and well that 100-pro ink is not a match ( I saw the results ), will the tank fit and will the chips read, or will the printer just rejects them. I only ask this as I have 100 tanks laying around. Can I replace the chips form a used tank with my old 100-pro to get basic bad color prints. Not everting I do needs to be perfect, I can use the good ink for those.

Here are some comments to the situation with Pro 200 inks and which options are available

And it is very much recommended to evaluate the refill situation of a printer before you make the investment for a given model - or decide to go otherwise.

The CLI-42 and CLI-8 cartridges with CLI-42 chips attached that could be used in the Pro 100 can also replace the CLI-65 cartridges used in the Pro 200 if you transfer the CLI-65 chips to them. No resetter exists for the CLI-65 cartridges so you will have to disable ink level monitoring to print with the refilled cartridges. You will have to monitor the ink levels your self, but as the CLI-8 and CLI-42 cartridges are transparent visual inspection is possible.

I wonder how the Pro 100 inks will behave in the Pro 200 if you have profiles made?

Precision Colors doesn't ship outside US and Canada, but I found a German manufacturer/vendor of Pro 200 inks. I don't know the company and know nothing about the quality of the inks. They also offer ICC profiles for their ink set and some photo papers.
