opaque sides to cartridge makes use difficult

I'm accustomed to transparent cartridge sides, but lately cartridges have opaque sides making identification difficult. Plus, some of these carts come from three different 3rd parties and identifies the contents with only a code such as TO79520 in very fine print. I only know now what that code...

how to free up cartridge carriage

Thanks for your reply, Ink Stained. I appreciated it! I want to move the carriage back and forth to facilitate head cleaning. Pulling the plug is awkward with my setup. The plug outlet is behind and below my table. Regards, Paul

how to free up cartridge carriage

I used to free up my cartridge carriage on my 1430 by using the buttons in a certain way. I didn't need to pull the power cord. Now I've forgotten how I did that. Can someone help me recall that technique?

decorative metallic strip on a 55-105 Nikkor lens

My Nikkor 55-105 has a very narrow metallic strip around the lens that's beginning to come unstuck ... only about an inch for now. Part of me says it's ok to intentionally pull it loose the rest of the way. After all it appears to be primarily decorative. An alternative would be to find the...

    scanners, anyone?

I appreciated Peter's post showing the various parameters in Danish. It finally rang a bell for me, where have I seen that before? It doesn't recall for me a feature in Windows 11 but it does ring a bell in the scanner (Epson 4490) software I have. I had thought that software came with Windows...

    scanners, anyone?

Thanks, Peter, that's kind of what I expected but I don't know Danish very well.... ! Would you be so kind as to give me the English translations for red arrows 1 and 2? Thank you! I know I could print out that diagram and use that as a guide but let's face it I'm just plain lazy. There, I...

    scanners, anyone?

Thanks, R, in fact I had a copy of VueScan some time ago. It got to be a bit too much for my brain! Maybe it's time to try it again. Paul

    scanners, anyone?

(sorry to be so late!) Thank you, but I already have a scanner, an Epson 4490. When I'm in the Auto mode I can't get at the speed to adjust it. It's in a slow mode and I want a faster mode for non-critical results. Thank you.

    scanners, anyone?

Aha! Make it all "e" and that makes it easy to spell. Thanks, The Hat! Now in all seriousness... can any one tell me a good place to go for help with scanners? TIA, Paul

    scanners, anyone?

The title here is "Everything Else"... would that include scanners? Maybe I got lucky and ended up at THE place to ask about some problems with scanners. Here I find the proper use of irreverance! At least here they could tell me the proper spelling of "irreverance". Here's hoping...

very large font when second printer is connected

Well, it may look like the printout was interrupted intentionally. I didn't realize there was still something in the queue. I was simply trying to switch printers - turned out to not be simple! Your second paragraph contains the notion that the Printer Control Language is different for each...

very large font when second printer is connected

I have two printers, #1 is an Epson 1430 and #2 is an HP Deskjet 932 (my old workhorse!). They take turns using a USB cable to the computer and hence to their respective printer. When a workflow starts with the Epson connected via the USB, the printer puts out and the fonts behave as they...
