What happened with my printer? Ink on timing disk Pro 9000 Mk II

Hello, my apparent bad luck with printers strikes again, last night I was having a few issues printing a document, may of been related, may not, but I decided to table it and try to figure it out before I went to work the next day. Fast forward to this morning, I turned my printer on and it...

    Homemade CISS

The print head is a warranted item and in my experience, if you are in warranty they are more then happy to send a new one. They may want proof of purchase though. (For me, once I didn't have to provide it, other time I did)

Electrical failure? Pro 9000 Mark II

So I had a chance to test ink wicking through the printhead. Just leaving the print head on a paper towel easily shows that the head matches the cart arrangement, G R PM BK PC C M Y i.imgur.com/BK6YGW1.png Though not much wicks out, not enough to tell anything for sure and it is all very...

Electrical failure? Pro 9000 Mark II

Sorry should of explained better, what I mean by that is that I only have one set of Canon carts, so I can't run quite as many tests on them before they run out. What has made this so frustrating is I have been trying to go through changing one thing at a time till I get the same output error...

Electrical failure? Pro 9000 Mark II

Well after a long day of testing, I can say that I am nowhere closer to figuring out what causes the issue. Despite my best efforts I can't figure out a pattern of what causes it. Using all Canon carts seems to get a clear output, but that may just be due to having less of them. Anyone of have...

Electrical failure? Pro 9000 Mark II

I agree that my post last night was a little premature, mostly due to frustration. I am redoing the tests today, with OEM carts and my refill ones to attempt to find the root cause. I am unsure why the second test print did so much worse with BK and Yellow, though I missed those because I was...

Electrical failure? Pro 9000 Mark II

With closer inspection, everything is not well in spare printer land. Today I noticed some odd banding in a print, it looked like magenta was giving some faint banding in the first 1/4 inch to inch of the print, so I ran a nozzle check but it looked good. i.imgur.com/ToQdpgz.jpg I was...

Electrical failure? Pro 9000 Mark II

Bit of an update. After talking to Canon support, a new print head is in the mail, so props to them and their fast support! And on the topic of overheating, I do usually run the printer with max dry time between pages, so hopefully that helps a bit.

Electrical failure? Pro 9000 Mark II

This isn't normal use for the printer, I usually print a lot less with it. And whenever possible I wouldn't let the carts run out of ink, but even then Yellow usually isn't an issue, PM and PC tend to run low sooner.

Electrical failure? Pro 9000 Mark II

Hopefully is it, I do have the set of OEM carts from the spare's box and will be using those if I send it in. I just shot Canon an email about it. But in the mean time, I'm back up and running with the spare printer.

Electrical failure? Pro 9000 Mark II

Will do, that or ebay. But was asking because I do have a spare Pro 9000 in box and was wondering if I should bother switching the entire printer, or just the head.

Here is the normal nozzle check, i.imgur.com/xvAkqUk.jpg And here is the one from the service tool, i.imgur.com/eonOW5O.jpg Thank you for confirming my fears, though I still find the results of the Extended test page odd, if it was just the print head, wouldn't the missing nozzles be constant...

Electrical failure? Pro 9000 Mark II

I have been using my Pro 9000 Mark II for about half a year now, and it has worked flawlessly. Been refilling with IS inks since pretty much day one. I was nearing the end of a 250ish page order that I had been working on for a couple of days, before starting the next batch I swapped out any...

    Epson 7900 adventure

Just a note about Epsons, I have a limited (recent) experience with the brand, but a few weeks ago picked up a 7600 from a local seller. From what I can tell it was used at some point, some ink in the waste tank, lines having some ink in them, but has been sitting unused for quite a long while...
