well i've tried printing the same page in both firefox and IE, and both results are the same as with opera. that mean they were all pretty small.
i have 'word pad', is that the same as notebook? could i use that and paste whatever text i'd like printing? obviously i wouldn't be able to do...
it just seems strange that i've always used opera and had no trouble until filling the cartridges. however i will try and print via IE or firefox and see what happens.

oh thats good, thanks for that. btw i've noticed that the font size has gotten quite small, do you know where the setting for increasing it is, i can't find it?

i'm having trouble with my canon mp210 printer. when i right click on a page and click 'print', i get the message:please check whether the printer is accessible.'
it is plugged into the pc and the little icon appears at the bottom of the screen.
any help will be very appreciated...
