Thanks for the help. Resetting the cartridge did not work. I have never used aftermarket cartridges; are you saying I could take the chip off of that and put it on my cartridge?
I just wanted to report that I love my MX882. I hated to send my 850 to the landfill but the 882 is superior, especially the software. I would recommend this printer.
On another note, I bought an extra set of cartridges with the printer as recommended by the salesman (before I even asked)...
I have refilled my 225 and 226 cartridges on my new printer and want to report the method I used. I got a resetter for this cartridge type and was successful in resetting the chip even though the resetter came without instructions. (It seems it does two short flashes, then one longer flash...
I ended up buying an MX 882. I finally found refill instructions on You Tube. If anyone runs on to instructions elsewhere, I would appreciate your posting them here. I will see if I can get my iP4200 to work with Windows 7 when I get my new computer (hopefully this week). All I need now is a...
If you could do this I would really appreciate it. I have searched on this site but have not found detailed methods for refilling either the 220 series or the 225 series. I have been busy with the insurance company, my internet provider, telephone company, and computer repair and havent had...
I guess I can conclude from all of this that I will not be able to refill and reset the cartridges in a modern Canon printer as easily as I can in my iP4200, iP3500, and could in my MX 850. I am sure all this refilling makes Canon really mad and the reason I bought one of the last MX 850s is I...
Thanks to everyone for all of the useful information. Which cartridges are easier to refill and reset, the 220/221 or 225/226? I have always used Canon cartridges and have had great success.
To a large degree, cost is irrelevant because if I can easily refill and reset cartridges it will pay for about any printer in a short time. I did a cost computation for a 6 month sample last year and estimated that I had saved over $13,000. since 1995.
What I want from a replacement for my 850 is basically what I had with that printer. My first want is one that I can reset and refill cartridges, hopefully in a manner similar to the 850. I use the machine to print from a computer, FAX, copy, and scan. I use the duplexing features both for...
My MX-850 got hit by lightning (even though everything was plugged into a UPS) and I don't have a lot of time to research printers and cartridges. Does anyone have ideas on a suitable replacement and if the new cartridges can be reset and refilled? I have a chip resetter and use the bottom...
I want to comment on refilling Lexmark cartridges. Before I got Canon printers, I found them the easiest to refill. The quality would start to degrade after a few refills but as I was printing mostly black this wasnt a problem as I could always step up the quality with the printer driver. I...
Thank you for the information. If I understand this correctly, even after I tell the software to go ahead after it reports the cartridge is empty there will still be enough ink to protect the head for a short time. If I switch back to my original (refilled cartridges) will I go through this...
I need help as to when to change the cartridges in my iP4200. I bought a second set of cartridges and installed them when the original cartridges were reported as being near empty. (I have refilled the originals.) I have replaced the purchased 5 cartridge with the original refilled 5. I...
I hope this is an appropriate thread for this post. If not, I apologize. When I was in the market for a new printer, I read lots of posts on this site and finally decided to buy a Canon ip4200. After reading about the methods for refilling the cartridges, I have decided that the bottom fill...
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I agree that it is probably best to get something else. I have some questions:
1. Do you think this printer is better than say a Canon ip4300? A lot of people in this forum seem to really like the Canons. I have read a number of reviews on...
