Canon printers. How many of us are still refilling?

these days, i would find it hard to justify buying a new printer, so i will try to keep this 9000 mk2 running. but if it fails, i guess i will be back to letter sized printers.

Keep your printer turned on 24/7 or power it down after every use?

i turn mine off, as i sometimes don't print for a month, or more, so i think, when i turn it on, it will clean, and then i can print. i wouldn't want it to keep cleaning, as the waste ink pads would just get full. i still don't know if i can change them, as it is a pro 9000 mk2, and i think the...

Canon printers. How many of us are still refilling?

on print heads. my canon pro 9000 mk2, i would think, has no more than 1000 prints in its life. if more, not a lot more. i t normally sits until i get the bug to do something, then i print a bit, then it sits again. would it be wise to get a new print head for the shelf? or with that little...

Canon printers. How many of us are still refilling?

i was refilling, but i went back to OEM, for the longevity i have a pro 9000 MK2, i will be trying the bulk for what i can get, but they will be bulk canon, as was descused in a different thread. there are only a couple of colors in bulk. i really do little printying, for the higher cost does...

Do pigment inks fade slower than dye inks ?

i find these threads very interesting. my first inkjets were Novajets, and colorspan drum printers, and the prints did not last very long. i guess the new inks are so far byond those inks it is like alli oop.

    a crazy idea??

yeah, well i do not make any money , just give a few prints away, and i tell folks to frame them if they want them to last. i guess the best i can do. i have other things that demand payments, so a new printer is not on the horizion.

    a crazy idea??

if i had the money i would buy a pigment printer, but for now, i will just stick with the dye printer, and use OEM inks,i have some prints that were in a portfolio, and they still look OK after like 4 years, but i am sure if i reprinted them i would see a difference.

    a crazy idea??

i have to say, i am learning quite a bit these last few days. i appreicate all the information/opinions. i like the idea of refilling, for economy, but not at the cost of the best quality/longevity. i will try out the available GI23 inks, and continue to use the OEM carts for other colors. my...
