I tried the black test and the plain paper came out slightly greenish black with a noticeable black line every 8mm (3/8"). The Matte photo paper shows more blue with a black "grain" across the page. Otherwise they printed out well.

My Canon MP610 prints photo-copies from the platen OK but when printing photos/pictures from the printer driver there is no black what should be black prints as purple. Why is it so and what can I do about it? I have had the problem for several months. thanks for your interest.
