    Clogged Canon print head

It must have been long time ago. Now everything (inlcuding BGAs) can be done on (almost) everyone's desk. A bit of patience, a lot of practice and good flux ;-) As to the price of assembly line - electronics tend to get 50% cheaper every 2-3 years, so you can estimate how much it would be now -...

    Pixma MP610 and PGI5 black

Understood correctly, don't worry :) Does it mean that if I'm printing a page from Word with a very small color logo somewhere, then all the document is printed using dye ink? Even black text? Hmm, have to check. Best, Jerry1111

    Pixma MP610 and PGI5 black

It's pigmented. I bought 2 sets of ink with the printer with a view to refill. I don't want to let the pigmented ink dry in the sponge, so I decided to change it 'preventively'. Now it's refilled and waiting sealed to be reused. Excessive? No....:D My previous printer (HP C5180) printed ~6000...

    Pixma MP610 and PGI5 black

Misunderstanding. I've printed 568 of photos + 120 A4 pages if I'm reading it correctly. Well, I don't have to read the eeprom print - I know I've gone through ~10 packs of 6x4 paper, 50 sheets each. I've just put 2nd PGI-5 cartridge - don't want the first one to run dry. That's why I've...

    Pixma MP610 and PGI5 black

Yep - 40-50 normal, average pages. Did the EEPROM check (your instructions worked). Total 568 pages, 11 copies, plain paper (I guess that's A4 text) 120 pages - a bit more than I've estimated but still way below Canon ink usage. There was a low ink warning, none in the tank, sponge seemed as...

    Pixma MP610 and PGI5 black

I meant that the black pigment ink has a low ink warning - (not the yellow ink, I was talking about the exclamation mark which is displayed). Is it possible after mentioned amount of printing? Best, Jerry1111

Canon MP610 - custom paper size

I'll answer to myself - to be archived ;-) Looks like the only workaround is to play with paper sizes, overspray amounts and margins. I managed to have just a bit less than 0.5mm overspray on a 100x150mm paper by using 4x6 settings in the printer driver and adjusting margins in Qimage. Here are...

    Pixma MP610 and PGI5 black

Hi, I've printed around 300 4x6 photos and around 30-40 pages of text (well, just websites). Is it possible that the yellow exclamation mark (low ink) appears on the PGI-5 (black pigment) ink? The printer is 3 weeks old. Is that normal/expected behaviour? I'd expect black to last a lot longer...

Canon MP610 - custom paper size

I did look - there is one long sponge, so any paper size would be compatible with borderless printing. In Europe it's easier to buy 100x150mm than 6x4 inches. Best, Jerry1111

Canon MP610 - custom paper size

I did just that. The ink is drying overnight and around 10-20 prints the next day are OK. The problem is only when I have to print a bit more (which happens from time to time). Funny thing is that the plastic is smudged with sort of dark-blue ink. No other colors on plastic. With no overspray...

Canon MP610 - custom paper size

Hi, I'm very happy with my new MP610 (was difficult to get - no stocks). After something like 200 photos (4x6) I noticed small smudging. I've done bottom plate cleaning, cleaned insides manually, but the smuging kept coming back after 10-20 prints. Now I know what's the reason: paper I'm using...

    OEM Cli-8 strange behaviour

OTOH when OEM carts are being shipped those are probably rotated in all possible driections (loading/unloading). Also when you're taking those home you're likely to hold those upside-down at least for a moment (there's no warnings 'this side up'). So (at least in theory) it shouldn't have any...

    OEM Cli-8 strange behaviour

That's what I don't understand with the 'balance' of that cartridge. Those bubbles are indicating that there is enough air in the sponge area (no underpressure) and that air is just being 'replaced' with ink. So how does the ink flows on its own? It looks for me like a small contradiction - just...

    OEM Cli-8 strange behaviour

Hi, I've just bought an MP610 printer (was difficult to find). Excellent thing I must say! The question: I'm still on original inks (printed ~50 photos, ink levels indicators dropped one bar). I've taken the tanks out (to have a look at remaining ink levels and the device in general). I've...
