Hi All,
Some of you may have seen my lamentations as I tried to fix my WF 3640 - since I have not found a free used one to substitute components on, I gave up trying to fix it for now - and, I may never get another printer that expensive, again.
But, I do have a much more used WF 645 that...
Hi All,
I have been unable to determine the OX20 fault on my WF-3640 (https://epson.com/Clearance-Center/All-in-One-Printers/Epson-WorkForce-WF-3640-All-in-One-Printer/p/C11CD16201) ... it is almost new and it really irritates me not to fix it. My previous post -...
Found no mention of scanner lock in documentation for the WF-3640 … can’t find any switch for this as on some models … scanner bar reset/reindexed when I was experimenting earlier …
Well, nothing heard, so I got a Maintenance Box - did not affect he code or warning - they're still with me.
Any thoughts?
I cannot believe that simply taking the machine apart would cause it to not work ...
Update - but no good news.
Disassembled, again, to take a look inside the scanner bed, itself. The mechanism in the photo, above, looks normal. The scanning bar is spring mounted and slide on a lubricated bar, the two clips float with it.
I removed and checked the entire drive mechanism...
So, working down the mechanical path as it is sometimes visible, I note on the photo (attached) that there are two clips (each end) that hold the light bar assembly in position ... they don't look exactly the same in position, nor does it look like they are locked into a position that is...
Hi, thanks.
I took lots of photos … wiring is pretty straightforward, but I did go back through disassembly and reassembly twice.
Second time I moved the scanner bar to the far side, and on powering up, it appears to realign back to starting position, lighting up as usual, then the same 0X20...
OK - took ADF apart … disconnected from PCB … disassembled the drive mechanism to get at the “tab”, think I have assembled correctly …. but (ya knew it was coming) now I get a scanner error … redid everthing … same result.
Would timing differences in the drive in ADF relate or cause?
Sigh ... further, more careful examination showed this spring tensioner laying in the area where the "tab" is located - I'm assuming it is to return the tab to position per the rotation of the feed mechanism?
Can this be reinserted from above the opening or does the ADF need to be disassembled?
I am trying to find consistency in the malfunction ... but so, far, I'm not.
I've:
- tried various formats for the scan
- tried resetting software on the machine to Default (Scan and Photo)
- tried cleaning everything that even looks like a sensor
- carefully blew out the various nooks and...
Gah, the malfunction occurred, again, this morning - sometimes after one page, then maybe three pages, then ran for full 25 in a stack - then immediately to paper jam after one page in the next cycle ... no particular pattern, but in each case the small white tab was back in a position closest...
Im not sure what would constitute a workaround. "Resetting" this tab (related to the drive mechanism I'm assuming) apparently fixed the issue.
However, the malfunction occurred, again, this morning - sometimes after one page, then maybe three pages, then ran for full 25 in a stack - then...
OK - so, stumbled on the odd thing that is apparently the issue ... as now it works fine.
Open the ADF cover ... on the bottom, left side close to the hinge there is a slot with a white plastic tab ... push the tab back towards the end of the ADF cover that opens and you should hear/feel a...
