Mikling, thank you for the advise. As I plan on keeping the printer as long as possible, I will limit my ink changes to any that are lower then 50% when 1 goes empty. I may even pick up a spare printer if I come across a deal.

I believe Tin Ho has a point. Changing the color of the plastic to opaque is cheap and doesn't involve a change in tooling. although using up new old stock would keep clear carts in the pipeline until they ran out and then opaque carts could be introduced as a running change.
