My MG7760 ran out of all ink 8 or 9 months ago when I bought a color laser, but it's been functioning ok as a scanner.
However, it threw a hissy fit yesterday when I accidentally hit the 'print' button and took me some time to reset...

I guess it varies a lot between Laser and Inkjet printers. My Brother HL-2130 has a quite elaborate pickup mechanism mounted on the front of the cassette.
I ask because I occasionally re-use paper that's dogeared or has been stapled or folded, and I'd like to make sure I'm inserting the paper so the clean end is gripped by the pickup apparatus.
I guess the location might vary between models? My Canons are MX726 and MG7760.

Re the humidity here in the lower South Island of New Zealand, it's generally in the 50's. Right now, as I type this (in early Spring), it's 54 in the house, 51 outside.
I've seen it as high as 70 but that's not common. But more to the point...
After years of using a printer bank comprised of several Canon inkjet MFC's plus a single Brother mono laser, I'm considering replacing the whole lot with a single Brother MFC Color Laser.
I'm thinking that the new Brother (or other brand, haven't decided yet) will only come with starter carts...
