I might be thinking of something else but, I think what some people are doing is filling the black in cartridge with the other black ink. This allows them to pick the other print setting and still get that black.

There's a trick to getting rid of that

Oh...I already have that one fixed. I'm working on a pro 10. Ebay is empty, I fact everywhere is pretty much empty. Which is weird because the new printers use the same head. Granted I'm sure canon has them but I'd prefer a new head in the 60-80 range even if it is a knockoff

You don't know my printer how do u know there's no print heads? Did canon go bankrupt or something?

So first my green was clogged, everything else was perfect. I soaked in distilled water, windex, alcohol. Put her back in, now green prints perfect, but photo cyan was missing basically the middle 3rd. Top and bottom was still there. Did a second soak. Then bottom half was missing. Did a third...
