It seems that the initial concerns I had and the reason for starting this tread are unfounded.
I was under the impression that you should not use Vivid Magenta in earlier Epson printers designed for Non-Vivid Magenta K3 inksets.
From some research I have just done. You can use Vivid Magenta...
Thank you again for replying. I do appreciate your recommendations and I might rethink the Inktec ink.
I do not have the bronzing etc problems because I only use Matte papers and Canvas.
I am more than happy with results I get from OCP inks so I might stick with it.
Thanks again.
Thank you for your time in replying. I have a couple 3800's that I have used with Image Specialist's ink and now
use OCP ink. It is through the reviews on this forum that I would like to try out the Inktec ink.
Yes, I do my own profiles for ink/paper combo's so that will not be a problem.

I have a problem finding Inktec ink for my Epson Stylus Pro 9800 printer.
My printer share's the same 'Epson UltraChrome K3' ink set as the 2400, 3800, 7800 and more.
The later 2880, 3880 and 9880 use the same ink set except for a Vivid Magenta/Light Magenta.
The different Magenta's are where...

Thank you for your input.
I have worked out what caused the clogging up of the drain tubing and purge pads.
I only leave my printer on standby, I do not switch on and off, so the printer is not going through the usual routine where
spent ink would go down the waste.
The other thing...

Thank you so much for your advice.
I have just checked the purge pad to see if liquid flows freely as in your video.
At first it looked like I still had a blockage, the right hand side drained virtually straight away.
The left hand started to drain after about 45-60 seconds and then away...
Something I am confused by is that on looking at the capping station the drain tubing
is pinched half way down so when not in operation the ink cannot flow freely to the waste tank.
Waste ink only flows down when it is pumped down. This is why when I clean the purge pad
I flood it with fluid...
Thank you for your replies.
I had already started to strip down the printer. When I got the capping station out I could immediately see all the gunked up ink.
I spent a couple of hours cleaning the pads and tubing. Flushing out the gunge with a syringe and water etc.
I have now a perfect test...
I have a problem with the purge pad on my Epson Stylus Pro 3800.
The left hand side pad does not drain away and floods on a clean cycle.
Is there a fix I can do for this or do I have to strip down the printer?
I'm not sure how the system works, does the ink drain away through tubes?
I'm...
I can't say that this is the same as your problem, nor am I pointing the finger at ink brands.
The problem I had with my older Pro3800 would only affect the LIGHT MAGENTA.
It would print lighter than it should, after a Power Clean from the menu it would return to 100% normal for a while.
I...
Thank you for that very detailed explanation. I must admit it did go over my head a little. I did read it a few times.
From what I could understand the 3800 and the 3880 are 98-99% identical.
It sounds like it is ok for me to experiment with Vivid Magenta in my 3800. I will order some and give...
Thank you for reply. Have you tried the OCP Vivid Magenta in your 2400/3800 printers?
I'm interested in hearing about any results from these printers as they were not designed for the VM set
It was CLS that mentioned he had purchased the OCP VM inkset to use in his newly acquired 3800.
This...

Quote: Using OCP INK with the Vivid Magenta Inkset
How is OCP's vivid magenta performing in the 3800? I use OCP ink but with the standard ink set
Do you see any improvements using the vivid magenta over the standard magenta?
Did this combo profile OK?
