Hi Everyone,
Long time reader, first time poster.
I come from the wide format market, I currently operate HP Latex 3xx printers, but have a need for small format inkjet(s) now, and I am looking for advice.
We make indoor stickers, used in planners, notebooks, etc. I am looking for an inkjet to handle our needs. We would be printing on matte/gloss inkjet vinyl and paper (looking for advice here, will post in other section), from 200 to 500+ sheets a month, mostly 8.5" x 11" media/sheets. We then contour cut these in our plotters with a finish perf cut.
I am looking for an inkjet that will work (easily) with 3rd party inks, like PC or Cobra, doesn't have to be a CIS system, refillable is fine. Looking for vibrant colors on both media types, smudge and scratch proof, and something that will last a year or two, I don't need long term archival on our prints.
We don't print photographs, all of our stuff is vector/png/jpg based from internal design or 3rd party designers.
I bought an Epson Artisan 1430 and have been playing around with it for a couple of weeks, and I'm not terribly impressed with the output of it so far. Color's are dull, quality isn't any better than the office HP 8740 Inkjet we use. I'm not sure if it is operator error or what. We tried different profiles, photo glossy, matte settings, etc. All testing has been done with OEM dye inks. I purchased it since it appears to have the highest DPI and smallest picoliter of 1.5 compared to 3/3.5 of the newer models.
So, I'm looking at the following printers and seeking advice: Canon Pixma Pro 100, Canon Pixma Pro 10, and the Epson P600. I'm not sure if the pigment inks will be better for us, and if the different shades of black will help on quality output.
If there is another model we should be looking at, please let me know, and thanks in advance for any advice!
