I have not yet decided if I want to upgrade to Windows 10, but most likely I will not, so instead of voting I'll post some comments. When I have decided, I'll vote.

I think Windows 10 is no big improvement over Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 with the Classic Shell start menu. I have installed Win 10 on a laptop, and I will possibly wipe the hard disk and reinstall windows 7. I also dislike the "Big Brother" alias Microsoft when logging in using a Microsoft account. It is the same for Win 8.1 but logging in using a local account should stop the computer telling everything to Microsoft, I hope.

I think some Canon ink jet printers of the PGI-5/CLI-8 generation were among the best printers ever made for home use. I have more than one printer, but all use dye ink for photo printing, some printers also use pigment ink for plain paper documents.

My guess is that the new Epson printers will be popular, if the print quality is OK and the ink price reasonable. Sadly they seem to be office printers more than photo printers.

I'm at the present not interested in buying a 3D printer.

I think "Suppliers and Services" is already covered by the "Non OEM Ink & Cartridge Suppliers" forum.

Canon IP4300 - Epson XP-810
About windows 10 I answered both yes and no, given that i hadthe chance to select both options

Probably on one of my PC's I will upgrade, I am curious to try it, it's free to upgrade and fellows who did it gave positive feedback. Otherwise I can stay with 7, I am pretty satisfied with it, or switch on Linux.

Re. preferred printer I choose both Epson and Canon, I had two Canon broke in a couple of months (IP4300 and IP4500) so I switched to a EPSON expression XP-810 at a bargain price (as a discontinued model). Pretty satisfied (pretty fast, good text printing quality, double side scanning works fine and it prints cd's too) apart that it is very ink thirsty,as much as the canon.
Currently I am trying to fix my Canon MP610 (broken scanner glass), that it is easily refillable.

I agree with @PeterBJ, PGI-5/CLI-8 rules!!. But there is a extremely worrying issue with them: printing head and motherboard tends to broke pretty easily for no apparent reason.

My 4300 has a broken head\mother board error (and was rarely used), the second hand IP4500 I bought broke after two months (same issue), I got back to this forum after months and two of the new threads have been started by people with the same issue..... and online is full of people selling them beacuse broken, and the issue is always the same: faulty Printing head or motherboard. It seems an epidemic disease.... :)

Re Epson, I really hope they succed with this new marketing move, printer more expensive but reasonable ink price (70 ml at around 12€ in Italy against 23€ they are currently asking for a 8,7ml cart (XL!!!) for xp810).

Of course I would like to buy a 3d printer and a "Supplier and services" section could be of little help

I got Windows 10 to upgrade from Windows 7, and it is very slow and freezes up sometimes, so I will probably stick with Win 7 and Ubuntu.

My favorite printers as of now are both HP and Epson. Epson printers have printheads that don't overheat, but HP printers (especially older ones like the Deskjet 932c) seem much more solidly built.

I use only dye ink right now, because pigment seems to kill printheads faster than dye.

Epson CISS printers- they probably will be a choice among most ordinairy people. They don't use ink cartridges, which use lots of materials and energy to make, so most tree huggers will probably be pushing them. If they made a 6-color ink version, they would probably make a killing, since printing photos with genuine ink costs a fortune.

3d printers- I have used them to make wind turbine blades as well as other things. They are definetly something I am interested in, and hopefully I can get one sometime.

A "Services/Suppliers" forum would be nice, but I probably wouldn't use it much.

I have been using Canon printers since 2006. Mostly they held up well. Only complaint-changes ink carts too much.

I won't switch to Win10 with my exisiting hardware and software, Win10 is supporting hardware functionality which I don't have yet, and the programs were not written either to take benefit of any Win10 specific funtions. The support for Win7/8.1 will end in 2020/2023, that's some years to go, and then I'll buy new hardware running Win10 and upgrade/update the software accordingly.

I reckon @Ink stained Fingers might have a point here, like when getting the new machine that has all the bells and whistles on it, then maybe that would be a better time to venture into the Win 10 O/S.
