EPSON L8180 - Need help with the issue (Uneven white borders or margins)

Hello.

I have bought a brand new EPSON L8180 which has issues like uneven white borders and wrong margins. To be exact this is my second brand new as i have returned the previous one thinking it was faulty or i don't know if it ever was thanks to these issues.

I thought that the first time, it might have been faulty with this issue but the second time i got it, it has the same issues.

This problem started and still continue from day one. I did the head alignment and whatever it asked on the first time.

I have tried printing for example a resume which is full page on A4 and sadly the white borders were uneven. I somehow fixed it by changing an offset on advance settings but i don't know if it's the solution. I also have tried printing some photos on 13x18 and 4x6 and the same issues appeared.

The programs i used and nothing worked so far are: Browsers like firefox or edge, Affinity and finally EPSON Print Layout.

The papers i use are: Navigator 100gsm and some different brands photo papers like EPSON and mediarange.

The inks are the genuine EPSON ones.

I tried to do what other people said about the settings like setting it on center and so on but nothing worked so far. I also tried what i found on google or what AI said and so far no solution.

Also, i don't want to print borderless as i ready that after many prints, the printer will stop working and lock down because of the pads.

Did anyone have similar issues and if so, did they find a solution that or what did they do to fix it?

Please i really need help and would greatly appreciate it. For days i am trying to fix it but cannot.

Is it this EPSON L8180's limit hardware or is it faulty once again?

I have around 14 days to return if i have a problem..

Uneven borders - by how much ?

Did you try to adjsut the margin settings via the driver - it's under Windows on the Utility tab - and there under the button for the extended settings - this on most Epson printers since quite a long time

I am not sure about that but it's different when i print. For example when i am printing a page of A4, it's right side has more space than left. One photo of 13x18, it's left side had more space than right and another photo by resetting the offsets to zero and by using EPSON print layout, i think the white borders were uneven by some small cm or mm.

I tried applying the same margins from A4 to 13x18 thinking it would be same but i was wrong.

Yes that is what i did previously. So from what you are saying, it's that this problem exists on many epson ones but no other brands like Canon? So it's naturally the hardware's limitation and not being faulty one?

Do i have to set different margins everytime i use A4, 13x18, 4x6 e.t.c and different settings when using cassette or rear feed? I can test by printing A4 ones but it's hard to waste good photo papers to find the right margins...

This Epson l8180 has some features like the old canon that i cannot find in other printer unless i pay for a premium pro one.. and i also need the tray for cd/dvd.

So, at first your EPSON L8180 is the same printer that i have, for most of us it is the Epson ET 8550. For me it is a great printer with very good quality on glossy papers.
If you want to print without the use of "bordelessprinting", to avoid overspray that can saturate internal waste-ink sponges(internal plates), leading to ink smears on the backs or edges of subsequent prints .It can also trigger the internal counter of Borderless Prints that can stop the Printerto work .You have to set the borders by yourself ,equal for evry four sides of your paper.The minimal bordersize of the ET8550 is 3mm.If you still have some uneven borders so your selfcentering paper feeding-guides are offcenter .In the epson driver you can adjust some offset.

If you bought a new printer , the CD/DVD Tray is in the Printer.
I think you should read the Printers-manual.

Useless description of what your problem actually is.

The printer has a reflective optical sensor on the bottom of the print head at the rear left corner. That sensor detects the bottom and right edge of the paper and the printable area starts 3mm in from where that sensor thinks the paper edge is.

That sensor has a calibration which is not user adjustable. Even if the calibration is off the results should be repeatable.

The sensor also likely checks the left edge of the paper to avoid spraying ink into the printer. I doubt there is any adjustment to the righthand margin based on where it sees the left edge.

So the printable area should consistently start close to 3mm from the bottom and right of the paper and extends from there to the size of the paper you specified less 3mm left and top margins. If the paper isn't the size you specified the margins around the printable area will be asymmetrical. The printers are surprisingly accurate in terms of head travel and paper feeding.

Where what you are printing sits within that printable area (and so the size of the margins if any around it) depends on what you are printing and with what program and it's settings and doesn't have much to do with the printer.

I printed some photos on A3 paper on an ET-8550 yesterday. The images were cropped to match the aspect ratio of A3 paper less 3mm all around. The left, right, and bottom margins were exactly 3mm the top margin about 4mm. The paper size was accurate so I would say the printer paper feed was 1mm out in 420.
