Problems with the forum editor.

I cannot highlight text to change format or insert a link. I have had the problems with the Opera and Firefox browsers under Windows 10 64 bit and also with the Firefox browser under Linux Mint 64 bit on another computer.

Have other users had the same problem?

Not too sure if this is the problem but the highlighting is fairly subtle and having no problems in Windows 11 with Firefox In the sentence below the word BIG is the only word highlighted the effect is subtle and may not be noticeable depending on how your display is calibrated.
Once edit has been applied e.g. font size or colour then displays as intended. Hope this might be of some help.

Now in normal window highlighted and edited BIG should be in red and big

Is it just the process of highlighting the text, or having the menu missing. Often it's the latter... setting here:

If that isn't the issue, is there any system where it is working, or is it across the board?

Testing myself here.

I did notice above that the highlighted text isn't significantly demarcated from non-highlighted... but that shouldn't impact the functionality.

Maybe this is the explanation. If I cannot see that text is highlighted and try to highlight it again, I think things can get messed up. Test to change text to italic. This post caused problems with inserting a link.
