Hello.
A friend of mine gave me this printer to see if I can fix it, and after tinkering around I found the service manual that states that to fix it I must change the printer head and the power supply.
So I ordered a new printer head and changed it, to no avail.
He gave me another 2 not working printers, still IP3600, one has the same problem and the other has a different problem, so I tried to get the power supplies from those other two and tried it on the first one, still to no avail.
On the service manual I missed a part, where it states that with the printer head you have to change the logic board, so I removed the board with the USB plug (I hope it meant this board) from the printer with a different problem (not B200 related) and installed on the first one, also swapping their PSUs. Still no avail, still getting the B200 error.
I'm not a printer savvy, I usually don't work on them, even tho I like this kind of modularity on those printers, anyway I'm stuck.
I downloaded the Canon Service Tool, two versions, the v.1030 and the v3400, I found by myself how to set the printer in service mode (holding the second button while connecting the power cable, I hope it's correct), and the tools seems to recognize the printer, but I didn't dare try to do anything yet since I don't know what to do.
Can anybody help me, please?
P.s.: I tried to read other threads here but I didn't get much of help, but maybe I missed something.
Thanks.

The IP3600 is a pretty ancient printer model more than 10 years old; the B200 error is the typical printhead failure which in lots of cases damages the motherboard as well.

I would not spend any effort anymore on such printer and rather look for a new printer - as a megatank or cartridge based model - with user replaceable printheads and waste ink /maintenance box.

I know but I already spent money on the printhead and I don't want to waste them.

Ink stained Fingers has given you the very best advice available here and things won’t get any better if you persist, O’ have fun while it lasts..

These print heads you purchased are totally useless and are second hand refurbished ones to look like new, buying print heads from any other source other than Authorised dealers are a waste of time and your money..

Printers of that age have long since been discontinued and no print heads are available for a long, long time, best advice is to contact the seller and seek a refund..

No, the printhead was sealed new, anyway I don't think it's there the problem.

I wonder where you bought the printhead and how much you paid? Printheads from the far East are often used and defective printheads that have been cleaned to look like new and are often packaged in counterfeit cardboard boxes and foil bags.

I found an offer for the printhead from a Danish seller of genuine Canon parts. The price is 789 Danish Kroner which is approximately 120 USD or 106 Euro. The printheads from the East offered by eBay, Amazon, Alibaba and others are often much cheaper, maybe only 20% of the price from authorized dealers. I think buying a new printhead from a regular source is much too expensive with no guarantee for a working printer.

When a Canon printhead fails it can but does not always damage the logic board. A logic board damaged in this way can damage a new printhead. This is the reason Canon service manuals recommend that the printhead and the logic board are both replaced. This is also the reason that swapping printheads between printers for instance for troubleshooting is risky and not recommended.

The power supplies in Canon printers rarely fail. Instead an error in the printhead or the logic board prevents the power supply from turning on. See this thread about the interaction between printhead, logic board and power supply.

The small circuit board with the USB receptacle is not the logic board but the Pict Bridge input board. It allows printing of pictures directly from a camera also equipped with Pict Bridge. The logic board is a larger board that can be seen in the service manual on page14/17 the picture at the right below paragraph 7), see this, click to enlarge:

The parts number for the logic board is QM3-4393-000 but beware if you want to search the web for one. Canon has divided the world into regions and a printer for one region only works with cartridges for the same region. I don't recommend risking to buy a logic board from a wrong region that might be functional but useless.

I wonder what is the error with the printer that does not have the B200 error? Even if it is not recommended you could try the printhead from that printer in one of the B200 printers. If you are lucky you get a working printer, if not I think you should not throw good money after bad by buying more parts, but instead dump the printers.

The service tools can only be used for getting some info and change some settings. They cannot be used to repair a defective printer. In stead an error can prevent the printer from entering service mode.

If you get a printer working and maybe at some time in the future need to enter service mode to reset the ink absorber counter then this is the procedure( from the service manual, but slightly edited to make it more clear):

i. With the printer power turned off, while pressing the Resume/Cancel button, press and hold the Power button. (DO NOT release the buttons).
ii. When the Power LED lights in green, while holding the Power and Resume/Cancel button, release the Resume/Cancel button. (DO NOT release the Power button.)
iii. While holding the Power button, press and release the Resume/Cancel button 2 times, and then release the Power button. (Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the Alarm and Power LEDs light alternately, Alarm in orange and Power in green, starting with Alarm LED.)
iv. When the Power LED lights steadily in green, the printer is ready for the service mode operation.
