From a 2020 thread concerning fuzzy prints here on this forum, Stratman gave this response, "Magnifying the nozzle check there appears to be early signs of splitting/bowing of the vertical lines in the latticework of the Pigment Black nozzles. This is believed due to overheating and warping of the nozzles caused by poor cooling properties of aftermarket inks." I am having this issue with one of my MX922's and wish to start using an aftermarket ink that will lessen the chances of this happening. Rather than just randomly picking from one of the many inks listed online, are there a few better quality inks that I could pick from? I don't do any critical prints, would just like to know that I'm using an ink that will hopefully not cause serious problems.

If you’re having this issue already then it may be too late to change inks to rectify the problem 100%, if this is something that worries you then the best way of halting anymore deterioration is to use OEM pigment black in that cart.

And in time it may correct some of the fuzziness but it won’t let it get any worse that’s for sure, OEM inks are known to clean and correct issues inside the print head, if caught early enoght..
We use pigment ink in a HP Designjet using pigment in dye ink head. No problem there either.
Refillhouse are a good brand for refilling, but I’ve not heard of them producing good quality pigment black ink before, they usually use a mixture of pigment mixed into dye ink that works very well and doesn’t clog the nozzles, quality pigment ink cost more no matter where you purchase it from..

I should clarify, I have had a couple of Canon's with this issue, one of my current MX922's is exhibiting the issue now. Rather than spend time and energy trying to fix it, I'm moving to a different printer and want to avoid this happening again. So, starting from scratch with a new to me printer, I would like to find a quality aftermarket ink to use. I much prefer purchasing ready to go carts as opposed to refilling. I refill the carts on my large format Epson and it gets to be a pain keeping up with it. I'm not able to get to the RefillHouse link, it just stalls when trying to load.

I still can't get refillhouse to load, browser just stalls. What I'm looking for is a high quality aftermarket cart, would be used in my two MX922's. These printers, along with an old high end HP laser printer, get general everyday use. I want to avoid refilling, that is what I do on my Epson 400 where print quality is important. For the Canon's I just want to get aftermarket carts that has good quality ink that hopefully will avoid the fuzzy print kind of problems that I've had. One ink that I have heard about for years is LD Products, is their ink better than the typical run of the mill stuff that you find on Ebay? Any other brands come to mind?

There is no such thing as high quality aftermarket cartridges or ink, and the reason why your print head is showing signs of failure is because of these same poor inks, the only inks that works properly are OEM..

If you continue to use 3rd party inks in your printer, then be prepared to buy new print heads every so often, there is no other way of putting it.. The print head is designed to fail if you use 3rd party inks..

P.S. the other alternative is to buy a printer that will allow you to use 3rd party inks..
