The inkset required for the Pro-200 is DIFFERENT from that of the Pro-100 if any were wondering. And many have been asking whether they could use the inkset for the Pro-100.
My advice is NO. You physically could but the output would be horrible.
Canon changed the magenta inks as they claimed. However they also monkeyed around with the Cyan channels as well.
A lot of work went into the creation of the compatible inkset for the CLI-65. Canon has pushed the envelope with some powerful dyes...and it looks like there is room to further push the envelope in the future! They are making refilling and getting good results even more difficult.

Seems obvious, the horrible looking one is when the Pro-200 is refilled with a decent inkset for the Pro-100 PC42SE and the one to the right is when the Pro-200 is refilled with an inkset made for the Pro-200 PC65SE.

and how much could be compensated with a custom icc-profile ? You may not reach the full gamut of the Pro-200 this way, but such ink swap could become more insteresting when - whenever - the new Canon Foto inktank printer models G570/670 become available in the Europe /US regions and bottled Chromalife+ inks with it which then could be used on other printers as well at a more affordable price.

I would ask anyone who fails to make clear what an image depicts to label it. Proper identification of an image should not be novel to a veteran forum member such as you.

For crystal clarity -- The inferior print on the left was with your current Pro-100 inkset printed on the Pro-200?

The foundational question remains - How do your inks compare with OEM inks for the Pro-200?

@Ink stained Fingers makes an interesting point that a custom ICC Profile might compensate for some/many issues. Still, not having to obtain a custom ICC Profile is preferable.

Demonstrate the quality of your inkset to OEM and the forum will recommend your new inkset, with or without qualifications.

To the untrained eye, with the Pro-200 inkset, it will not be detected relative to OEM on miost images. The Pro-200 set very high standards that I cannot exceed at this time nor likely. But close...yes. That only means others will be far off the mark. Even on a gamut test plot, it is not detected unless you have the same skills to know how to see it. I am way past the time when an ICC MUST be used for an inkset. ICC profiles will be provided to extract the best possible performance...that is what many of my clients use....they are beyond the "Gee I can refill: stage. . In addition, by providing an ICC WITH a good matching inkset, you max out what is possible. My SE inksets are there for the newbie to use and still get fantastic looking output WITHOUT the use of color control adjustments or custom ICCs, even Paper Mfr profiles can be used. However, to get perfect response out a compatible inkset is impossible. Dare I say, I exceeded what Canon could provide on the Pro-100 on an IQ basis. The Pro-200 inkset gets close to the standards set by the PC42SE inkset. It was a lot of work, but the Pro-200 would appear set up so that I would not be able to match...Intentional? maybe but it was a tough slog with the resources...me alone I have.

I challenge ANY other aftermarket reseller or mfr of inks to match my Canon SE inksets using standard drivers and I am willing to put money down on that challenge. $1000 USD on that challenge based on what is available today. April 8, 2021. Losers must pay up. So please go to other dealers and mfrs and request that challenge...anywhere in the world.

The standards have shifted but remember the cost performance ratio with my inks has skyrocketed to a new reference to ANY other aftermarket ink. You want cheap? yes get that.,,if that is what refilling is for you. I am not playing in that space.

I am too busy that I am behind on this. but the deniers can continue to deny. You can approve others at your risk of credibility. Followers know the standards I set. Bye.

The GX models are running with pigment inks - a kind of complementary to the Epson printers with Durabrite inks for office type applications. So yes - a wider range of bottled OEM inks is becoming available. I think the business is in a kind of turning mode - I can assume that a range of problems with refill inks and cartridges is going away with the tank printers, good OEM bottled inks are (becoming) available probably eating some of the refill market, the refill market will continue compete with very low prices - with questionable properties of the inks - fading persistence - gloss etc , and refill of higher end printers will be further inhibited by the manufacturers with more sophisticated chip coding/protection schemes.
