Hi Guys,

Any help most gratefully received.

Yesterday printer came up with error *15 Light flashes problems with cartridges. I replaced the cartridge with red light off, c-550 XL black (the existing cartridge was not empty) but the error light continues to flash 15 times.

Printer is Cannon iP2750 is around 5/6 years old. Currently using cartridges from SUPPLY GUY magic-stores.biz Dortmund MA21 made in China. The printer was not used very frequently until last year however since then has been used most days but only for a few sheets. It has been working fine with these cartridges until now.

I have tried unplugging and leaving off for 5 mins no joy. I have taken the printer head out and cleaned it no joy.

Am I just missing something simple, help please that orange light is doing my head in.

Get yourself a new Black cart, because the chip on your existing one has malfunctioned, (15 LED Flashes) means the chip is dead.. That's if your sure you counted them right.. !
But if both LED lights are flashing then your lodgic board has had it.. Sorry.. (Orange/Green)

You replaced the malfunctioning cartridge from the same supplier?

Orange light flashing x15 = Cartridge cannot be recognized.

Has your printer firmware or drivers been updated recently?

HP and Epson use firmware updates to spike the use of some aftermarket cartridges. The concern is that Canon will do the same.

The best way to be sure is to buy a new, never opened Canon OEM cartridge. *** If that doesn't work then maybe it is the print head or the logic assay board or both. Time for a new printer.

***Even Canon OEM chips can fail out of the box. Happened to me. Canon overnight shipped a new cartridge. Nice!

According to you original post, the orange light flashes occurred first with the old cartridge and then with the new cartridge. Now the old cartridge doesn't flash the orange light.

My recommendation stands. The best course of action to diagnose the issue is to buy a new, never opened Canon OEM cartridge. You could get an aftermarket cartridge but NOT from the same supplier or manufacturer.

If you don't want to spend any more money on your 5-6 year old printer then buy a new printer. You could be nearing the end of its life span anyways. Or not. :idunno

Hi Stratman, sorry if message was confusing. The orange light continues to flash on all cartridges. The red light is the light that illuminates under the cartridge itself when you open the printer. This light i assume makes you aware of the problem cartridge?

The red lights are on with all cartridges that are ok i believe its just that this red light was not on with original black cartridge i changed. The light came back on with new cartridge
