I’m back trying to do a bit for nature, I’ve had limited success with my bird boxes, so I made this bee nest just to see if I could encourage a few bumble bees to take up residents, it’s a bit late for this year but I’m prepared to wait for spring, if I’m still here.. :hide Cough... Cough...

The tubes go in about 10cm and some of them are joined at the back to make the area inside much bigger..

Just like convincing Mrs. The Hat with your charm to marry you, I think you need to lure a queen bee to your bee hotel for others to join her. :love

Very cool / interesting!

We've got a ton of bumble bees... turned out they were actually carpenter bees and eating into the house beams, etc :(

Well let’s see them eating into PLA plastic.. Besides there’re welcome, it was made to make them feel at home, it’s a bumblebee nest, rather than a hive... I can’t say weather I’ve ever seen a carpenter bee…:ep

Thanks Nifty for the link, very valuable information but again I don’t reckon we have any of does pests here this far north, and if I happen upon one then the outcome would be fatal for the bug, the bumblebee is under threat here from farming..
P.S. If my contraption is successful then I’ll build more..:) And they will come...
This first one took 53 hours to complete and weighs in at 1 kilo…
