Hi everyone,
I have been gone for a while but always check in here to keep up on the latest.
Since i lost my little Chihuahua i haven't had the ambition to do much.

I've still got all stuff for printing and shooting pictures to print, but am still a couple years away from retirement. When i do retire i have Pictures of my baby that i want to print, and have a couple dozen sets of OEM ink hoarded away along with a few spare printheads to make sure i get all her prints done that i want to print.

About 4 years ago however my son bugged me and bugged me to fire one of the 100's up i was saving to print whatever. That one went thru the first set of OEM inks and was then used with Precision inks since. To date it has seen more idle time than actual use. I do run a print test once a month tho just to keep the head from going bunk.

For now though i want to take the head and just store it since it's not cheap to replace anymore.

Advice welcome as i am thinking of pulling the head, run Piezo flush (this stuff works great) that i have it on hand and then put it away. I've also had great success with Piezo flush when cleaning the yellow cartridges.
Would i just want to flush and leave the Piezo flush in, or finish by Filling with Pharmacist's solution* ?

regards
Mike

Well ye search and ye receive.
Found the thread i was looking for,

https://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/how-to-store-a-print-head.6343/

I have an email into Inkjet mall about using Piezo flush in Canon heads and will report back on that one.

I still would like to hear opinion on storing the Pro 100 head in question.
I guess i could just print something once a week to keep it exercised for the next 2-3 years or until needed, but that's a bit of a pain.
Anyone?...............Bueller???

PS- I can now refill 8 Canon CL42's without getting so much as an ink spot on the ol digits...:plbb:plbb

I have successfully stored used print heads for quite some time, my method was to soak them in 2 inches of fairy/Dawn washing up liquid till they were clean, I changed the solution several times.

Then done the same with pharmacists solution just the once, dried it off with a paper towel and then poured some Propylene Glycol into the ink inlets, put the plastic clip back on the bottom and left it on a shelf, that worked for me.

The heads continue to work today..

For anyone interested, Jon Cone emailed back today and said good to go.
I know Piezoflush is not cheap, but after seeing how it turned the Cli-42 into a crystal white and usual cartridge with just one application i'm sold on it's worth.

Ahh but none of you had anything or advice to help until i posted about Piezoflush.............even funnier is no one here has come up with a foolproof way to expel all the gunk in the Cli-42 yellow cartridge as all the Fairy tale and magical home brew solutions don't work, but Piezoflush does......
After watching Ford vs Ferrari and knowing what an a-hole Ford's grandson was, I'd never give anything "Ford" a consideration.............Ford's best slogan amongst Americans is "found on roadside dead"

I used Fairy washing up liquid to flush out the yellow in the CLl-42 cart, then W5 window cleaner, to get rid of the soapy water, followed up by pharmacist solution to recondition the sponges and when dry enough refill with yellow, I’ve not had any printing issues with the yellow carts.. And not a drop of Piezo flush used..
P.S. Windex also works..
