Hi, I just got a MFC-L3765CDW. Works great, Too early for a report but I have a Epson ET 3750 and if I put it on a switched circuit that I turn off at night it would eat up a lot of ink and cause the cleaning device to get plugged up and require replacement so I learned to put it on a live circuit all the time and never turn it off.

Is there a problem with putting the MFC-L3765CDW on a circuit that I de-energize every evening?

I personally don't like turning off the power at the power plug for electronic equipment. That is very similar to a power outage situation and some electronics are designed for that stress.

Also, the MFC-L3765CDW has a sleep and deep sleep mode that engages after a few minutes (i think that is user setable). You are only burning about 0.8 watts on your printer in deep sleep mode so you don't save much.

That said, my understanding is that for that printer, it would not cause damage to turn it off except when:
  • The printer is actively printing or warming up
  • The cooling fan is still running after a print job
(give it ~30–60 seconds after the last page)
  • A firmware update is happening (rare, but critical)
The risks may not be high that you would turn the power off in these conditions so you can weigh the pros and cons for the purposes you are trying to achieve.

I hope that helps.
