I have an Epson PictureMate printer that runs on a battery for field use. I have always used their Glossy paper which comes with an ink cartridge.
Recently I acquired a Pentax K3 Monochrome camera and thought it might be good to try their Matte paper and ink for the printer. The ink cart has a different number than the Glossy printer ink cart. I wrote to Epson if the carts were different and they said "YES." No explanation though.
My only guess is that maybe the Matte ink cart may use a duller Matte Black ink but do not know. If so, it may waste a lot of Glossy ink clearing out the lines for the Matte paper.
I cannot see any difference yet having only made 6 Matte prints.
Any ideas as to what the actual reason Epson says they are different?
