on the subject of ink brands, this thread at dpreview :

compares several for the Canon bci-6 and seems to conclude labtec -- at least that was my reading of it, and that's what I have been refilling my HP1220C with. The poster ( Renard DellaFave ) did swab tests on various paper stock and then left them in the sun on his dashboard to see how they aged; look down the list of responses for his name to see the follow-up scans.

Please excuse the correction, but the one recommended was InkTec. I am using MIS and the article was correct on the black ink performing well on glossy photo paper. Did I read on this forum or somewhere else that MIS now has a darker black dye based ink for BCI-6 carts? I just bought more ink from them and stayed with the black I have purchased in the past as it is fine for my printing needs.

That's the kind of test I'd expect to be posted on this forum! Who's going to invite Renard over here? :D

In those threads it seems that many people conclude that MIS & Media Street use Image Specialists ink. Interesting how the swabs look the same and the fading looks the same too:

The fading on the Formulabs doesn't look too good in that test. I also noticed that NONE of the other inks resist fading like the OEM Canon ink. That's a bit depressing. I guess no matter how hard they try they can't get an exact match, or maybe it is just that they purposely leave out some parts of the ink to cut down the costs at the expense of longevity.

What do you think?
