Hey guys,

Looking to get a CISS for an XP-305 and need a recommendation on what kind of ink to get, pigment or dye. I'm confused as to exactly what type of ink is in the OEM cartridges. I thought it was the same as XP-300 in the USA which is all-pigment I believe.

Thanks,

Apparently you can use either type

" FotoRite Ciss pigment ink for Epson XP-305 Cis sits on the surface and reflects the light that hits it, for this reason if you are using glossy paper you should check with the manufacturer if it is pigment ink friendly. "

" FotoRite Pigment Ciss ink for Epson XP-305 requires regular use of your printer dye ink does not. "

" FotoRite Pigment ink for Epson XP-305 ciss is really only required for suitable applications that high light stability or waterproof properties is a must, for every day use you should choose the ciss for Epson XP-305 dye option. "

" If you don't need the extended fade resistance of pigment ink - use DYE. Dye ink is easier to work with, less susceptible to cloging and considerably cheaper to buy. Most (not all) Epson photo printers use dye ink.

On the other hand, if you produce prints for resale or want to display them, using quality pigment ink can greatly increase the display life and durability of the prints. Even if your Epson printer is intended to use dye ink (photo printer), it is possible to use a pigment ink set to fill it with. You may have to make adjustments to the printer settings and/or use an ICC profile together with advanced photo software (eg Photoshop) to boost the weaker pigment ink colours, but it can be done.
