Epson R800 Cleaning cycle

I recently got hold of lightly used Epson R800 printer and as I have had success with CISS sytems in the past I thought I would purchase one for the R800. Before the CISS arrived I thought I would ready the printer by locating the waste ink tubes in readiness for a waste tank fitment. After doing so I ran a cleaning cycle just to make sure the ink flowed out OK. To say I was staggerd by the amount that came out would be an understatement and enough to fill a whole cartridge. In a way Im pleased I have discovered this considering it would have all landed on the Printer's Ink waste pads

Hi Bob.
Fitted a waste tank to the same printer recently due to the on screen notice etc. I also nearly had a heart attack when I saw the amount of ink you literally throw away when running the cleaning utility. It's madness for the user but smart for Mr. Epson.
