Hi!

Almost after each set of prints (even five minutes after I printed, I have to run a print head clean function, otherwise the printer does not print properly. This is for the Epson L6170. Help appreciated.

The printer was serviced recently and the head was cleaned, but the problem persist. In South Africa only one company can replace the print head and I have to send the printer in. We really need the printer and perhaps it is not the head!!?

Thank you!

Jaco

Hello!

We only use Epson's original ink. The problem came slowly over time and then worsen. Look at the nozzle check - all colors. Look how bad it is after a couple of minutes. If you clean the print head it is fine again. (only for a few minutes)

Thanks!

Such a nozzle check looks pretty bad - are all tanks filled up with ink ? Did you run out of ink a short while ago ?

I don't know how much you can actually do - access to the printhead carriage - small tools - and if you can follow the advice here

Please have a look to posting # 2 and #3. The difficulty could be that you have to get access to the printhead with the scanner on top. The tubing at the printhead carriage is covered by a plastic cover held in place typically with just one screw , that's the easy part. You'll see there how the ink tubes are connected to some cartridge like so called dampers - these can be removed like normal cartridges. These dampers - with a small round chamber - should be filled about half with ink - but not completely full, you can take them out one by one - the tubes should be filled with ink - and no bubbles should be visible. If you want to, or need to - for space reasons - remove a tube from such damper clamp the tube first to prevent the ink running back into the tank . If that happens you can connect the tube again to the damper and use a syringe, insert it into the ink outlet and pull ink up into the damper. Go slow with such actions - it is not easy if you don't have prior experience with inkjet printers

Thank yo so much! There is always enough ink in the tanks. All tanks are filled. I will have a look and revert soon!!
