Hi All,

Just wanted to inform about a new open source tool that is useful if you already own a physical calibration target, such as
Or others.

As you probably know, the manufacturers of these targets don't want to supply a calibration target image with their physical targets, which is very anoying.
Luckily, now there is a small tool called "rectarg", a python script, that recreates calibration target images from .cht (chart layout) and .cie (reference data) files compatible with ArgyllCMS.

Applications

  • Display calibration: Compare a display’s color calibration to the physical target.
  • Printer calibration: Print a clean target image for visual or colorimetric comparison, or even for calibration/profiling with ArgyllCMS (f.ex. scan with scanin).
  • Scanner profiling: Compare a scanned target against a reference image.

You can find the tool here:

Here is a preview image made with rectarg:

Cheers,
K

Hi,
I was made aware in this post
how-many-color-patches-are-needed-for-a-good-profile.16935/post-146585
that BabelColor has two awesome FreeWare products, CT&A (Color Translator & Analyzer) and PatchTool (see https://babelcolor.com/products.htm). PatchTool, among many other features, has the capability to read CGATS and other file types, create image targets from the color data, or even read color patch data from target images. It can also save the color data in many different formats, which is very useful.

However, it cannot read cie and cht files and replicate the layout as the rectarg script does.

Cheers,
K
