Chip resetter for P700/P900

Have you tried it yet :)

This will not work on the 700/900 sold for the north American markets.

More information, please.
Epson purposely designed the firmware of those printers (for the north American markets only) to lock up when it detects non OEM ink cartridges. Additionally, the OEM carts are not designed to be refilled or reset. I spoke to Jon Cone (inkjetmall.com) about this and he estimates that these printers will not be able to accept 3rd party carts & inksets for at least 3 to 5 years if at all. Add to the fact of a worldwide chip shortage, this may make it impossible in the foreseeable future.

The alibaba link above shows how the supplier of the resetter is apparently resetting a cartridge - the resetter as claimed can reset original chips - and as listed the European and the U.S. versions. This may require the user to transplant the chips of his OEM cartridges onto refill cartridges on which the refill process is easier to handle.

(John Cole) - he estimates that these printers will not be able to accept 3rd party carts & inksets for at least 3 to 5 years if at all.

John Cole is not directly responding to the claim that the resetter can reset OEM chips; I don't see the point that 3rd party carts could be a problem nor ink availability - what would be the problem with 3rd party inks ?

Today I recieved 10 empty carts (no chip) 1 chipresetter and 1 resetter for the mainteneance box. The 2 resetters work perfectly, and now I am going to transplant the chip to the new empty carts.
Some of the original carts were clearly below 15%.

Does the chip resetter work on the initialization carts or only on a standard retail set? I've been reading some conflicting info...
