the trouble light flashes 8 times, I sourced it and could be ink absorber full. does any one know how to reset this error.

8 LED lights means your print head has had it, it’s time for a new print head or printer..

You're right it means the absorber is almost full.
It's a maintenance warning. You must :
1- dismantle the printer in order to replace or renew your waste ink pad
2- Use the appropriate Service Tool to reset to O the D parameter which can vary from 000 to 100

The easyfix link also has a service manual but in Chinese. From this manual it can be seen that the parts number for the ink absorbers is QY5-0368-000 if you want to search for a set.

wow, thank you very much, it worked, did not thing there was any hope in it. I even called Canon and they said there is no tool available. printer was going to be garage.
