Hi everyone.
I know it's an old printer, but it was around and since my newer hp photosmart died (doesn't recognize ink cartridges), I thought of using it after 10+ years of being idle.

I removed the empty old ink tanks, I bought some cheap new ink tanks and thoroughly cleaned the ink heads with warm water. After really cleaning it, I tried to print some nozzle tests but I had no success. Tried deep cleaning etc but nothing good occured. Whatever I tried the pages came out blank.

I'm really not willing to pay for spare heads and service work since it's such an old device.
Is there anyone who may have any idea what may cause it? Any diy advice or solution (I'm pretty good with tools etc.) or access to any service manual or videos, please?

Thank you in advance.

Hi @tedsorvino and welcome, you do indeed have a lovely old printer, but the bad news is you’ll have to let it go, without a good working print head the printer is useless.

You most likely killed the print head with kindness, you needed to soak the head in soapy water for 24 hours and then dry it thoroughly before putting it back into the printer, you were right to get new carts but fortune didn’t shine on your good efforts.

The print head for your printer has been discontinued for many years now and they are no longer available, so you’ll have to look for a new printer… Sorry..
