Nifty-stuff,
Good points. I have been doing this for 3 months and haven't had a problem, but summer's heat has yet to come. The ink in the carts has fungicides and mildewcides, and there is always a little ink leakage on the towel - perhaps that is why I haven't had a problem. At the first sign of a problem, I'll add a little pine oil cleaner and rubbing alcohol to the towel.
I normally use spare refilled carts within a few weeks, but I have had my opened OEM and 3rd party prefilled carts stored this way for more than 2 months without a sign of a problem. As long as the container stays sealed, the moisture takes a long time to leak out (and additional mold and mildew spores can't get in).
