While fitting a CIS system to my IP4200, in an effort to make it tidier I drilled through the cart holder, not knowing the 4 wires from the chip contacts runs along the channel where I drilled.

One wire is still intact 3 are cut. The wires are not colour coded, all are black- probably to make it harder to work out how to fool the chips.

I assume the wires are positive, negative and other two are data - but how do I tell, so I can rejoin them?

Or, is there anyway known to have carts working without chips?

I disbaled the chips and agreed to the warranty void a long time ago. The CIS supplier has told me that the printer won't work without chips on the carts.

I'm fitting the CIS because it's so hard to know when the carts are getting empty- with the CIS I will be able to see. IF I can get the printer working again

What shall I do? I hear the new Canon printer 4600 is not as good as the old ones, so I don't want to upgrade, I want to fix my printer!
