Destroyed my HP B109a print head?

Try soaking the head in Windex, or amonia over night. Use a small dish and fill it 1/8 of an inch and set the head into it so only the jet area is in the liquid. Then after sitting over night gently blot the head on tissue paper. Maybe it'll free up the jets. I found that amonia is about the...

    HP 940 Printhead problems..!

What's the name? ND is all over eBay and Amazon but clearly doesn't work. It's from China, too. I am curious. I read here that even OEM black seems to have a tendency to clog. That leaves me wonder - if HP is struggling to get this to work reliably what are the chances a cheap third party offer...

    HP 940 Printhead problems..!

No doubt it is the ink. Low-quality pigment stuff killed mine. All four colrsceventually clogged. Never again Nanodigital.!!! Here is another interesting observation. Most times the yellow is what depletes fastest and the reason is simple: Even with stock ink it is the black that tends to clog...

    HP 940 Printhead problems..!

Update: An empty dry HP940 print head weighs in at 42 grams. Some of the ink is trapped in the chambers covered by the double-layer paper filter screens. You can take these out and later re-install. I removed them with a small flat screwdriver. They are wedged in place only. Once the filters are...

HP Officejet Pro 8500A - trying to recover from bad pigment ink refill

@The Hat: I think I got a pretty good handle at how to refill the carts by now. I have disected one to be absolutely clear on how the pump and the internals look like. I can refill them and ensure zero air bubles in the pump and a nice hard pump. So I am 99.9% certain it is not an ink starvation...

    HP 940 Printhead problems..!

Here are some findings and wild guesses after having taken a couple of heads appart: - the weight of heads can vary greatly. Empty they weight somewhere in the lower 40gr. The used heads I got are anywhere from 49 -57 gramms. Once you really fill a head with ink it can get as heavy as 65 grams...

HP Officejet Pro 8500A - trying to recover from bad pigment ink refill

I am still trying to recover my 8500A from what I believe was very poor quality pigment ink. I ran into severe issues soon after the refill. It started as some bad quality prints and went on to complete blockage of all four colors. During my experiements I noticed that pure Windex (the Amonia in...

    HP 940 Printhead problems..!

I got several used heads on its way thanks to evil bay. My best explanation today is that the air bags are just another way to compensate for a varying volume of ink in the head and at the same time provide a shut off mechanism to cut supply when fully deflated (head full) The pumps in the...

Officejet 8500A printhead cleaning - how does it work? (long)

Yes, the firmware does detect and track carts and marks them non-OEM after the ink usage estimates render them empty. This is something every newer chipped HP cart will experience at some point in its life. On this model printer the firmware also tells you the non-OEM ink has been detected in...

Officejet 8500A printhead cleaning - how does it work? (long)

Let me add some images for clarification of above. The first is when the two suction cups (green) are under the print heads. You can also see the retractable cover (blue) over the rectangular antenna (red). Inside the metal antenna you can make out the circuit board with one SOIC-8 OpAmp and...

Officejet 8500A printhead cleaning - how does it work? (long)

My printer won't stop trying to clean its print heads. So in an act of desperation I took the whole thing apart to try and understand how it decides on success for the cleaning routine. Here is what I found so far: 1. The waste tank has this enormous sponge inside. It was saturated and ink was...

    HP 940 Printhead problems..!

I am following this thread with interest since my 8500A stopped working. Short history: I refilled all 4 cartridges with pigment ink (NanoDigital) and all colors have issues. Black clogged first and subsequently all other colors at one point or another have streaks (fading lines). The printer...
