Interesting question, which hints at a diagnostic trick. In a recent thread, you said,
Tried that on the color pad. It cleaned the pad, and I could now see all 5 color streaks - confirming that the heads for the missing colors are simply not firing.
Seems to be electrical, not a clog. New print head might be a consideration if I knew for sure that the problem is the head. Unfortunately, I don't have a good head to swap-in. Therefore it seems a better bet to replace with a working used printer - costs the same or less than a new head.
Thanks about the "reset" info. Could you add something brief about replacement models I might want to keep an eye out for? The iP3000 4-ink system seems adequate for my needs, and I like that it has been clog-resistant despite intermittent use. I wouldn't mind going to a better system - but...
I've kept this one just for color - yes, I suppose I should donate it as a b/w printer, instead of scrapping it. Interesting aspect of this model is that it would not clog even if it was NOT used regularly. Been many months since I've done a nozzle test. :)
Yes, the jpg of scan looks bad - but on the test printout, the Y LC LM look same as when it was printing good photos.
Thanks for pointing out the anomaly in the nozzle test. Looking at the print head assembly - it appears that there are separate heads for 2.5 and 5.5 pl - 4 ink cartridges, but...
Thank you, Tudor (and Tin Ho). My apologies, however, for providing a bad graphic. Here is the original scan:

The streaking in Y, LC, LM is an artifact of the scanning. All three bars...
I have an iP3000 that started printing photos in black and yellow only.
Nozzle check shows no clogged nozzles, rather some color bands in the test pattern are completely missing. The five color bands appear as follows...
