I may have found the fix. Not sure, but may have been set to sepia, though I hadn't thought so. Still not perfect but better. Thanks PeterBJ for the suggestion. I will give it a try. A friend had suggested something of this sort but wasn't sure how to effect it. Thank you.
I can't get my 5420 to print true grayscale. It has almost a sepia cast. I'm printing using Easy photo print EX, canon ink and glossy paper on standard photo printing. Easy Photo and Image Garden seem to lack links to the printer for preferences.
Yes, I formerly had an i860 that printed high quality. As good as could be expected from whatever quality the original picture had. The current printer mg5420 prints a lower quality picture. Oops, you just reminded me of something (as was probably your intent) that I'm not printing with Canon...
I can't get it to print sharply and clearly. I use Canon papers, Canon ink, and have tried various settings but they still lack the clarity I expect. I have seen results from other similar models and their results are quite acceptable. Could their just be something awry with mine? I recently...
What is the best Canon photo printer? I have the Pixma mg5420 and have never been satisfied with it. I did try a search for this information but didn't see anything that applied. I don't want a pro type printer, just one that will give me as good prints that I used to get with my old i860.
I did a print head alignment on setup. I started with default settings and altered nothing in my printing app. I have tried other apps with no discernible difference. I have tried manual adjustments. I have not contacted Canon tech support. Thanks for that suggestion. It may still be under...
I have never been satisfied with the quality of photo prints from my relatively new Canon MG5420. The prints lack depth and sharpness. I have used the printer very little (I'm just now replacing first empty cartridges) I use Canon inks. I previously had an i860 that made excellent prints...
I'm having difficulty getting the printer output to match what appears on my monitor. I had an i860 that sadly bit the dust. I loved the output from it. This printer lacks clarity in that it is dull and dark. I'm not sure what changes to make to get an acceptable print.
I'm still having trouble with magenta. The problem may be in my carts. None of them seem willing to flow freely. After I mess with one a bit I can get a fair nozzle check, but it won't last and then I'm magenta-lacking again. What could be the problem with all 3 of my carts? I filled them...
I checked the purge unit and it seems to be okay. I checked the magenta cart and found it seemed to be slow to release ink. I blew lightly into the air vent and that helped. I think the cart is still not a-1 as the magenta nozzle check stripe is a little paler than it should be, but at least...
I've lost magenta completely. I tried a standard photo paper glossy photo that had a lot of brownish-red. It printed shades of green. If the problem is connections or dirty strip, are there any measures I can take to resolve the problems?
Thanks guys, I reseated the printhead and now I have no magenta and still only part of the cyan. I don't know how to clean the timing strip and would appreciate advice. Sorry about the small image. I'll try again.
Thanks for the input, emerald and The Hat. I am loathe to give up on the printer though my husband thinks I should. I welcome any more opinions out there about this. Luckily I don't have any printing to do right now so can afford to wait a bit.
What about new ones? Are any of the lower...
Thanks to knowledgeable people here I managed to clear a serious clog in the pigment channel of my i860. It was great to have it printing well again. Unfortunately, when I went to do a nozzle check today, I got the 5 flashing orange lights signal. I had printed last week with no problems...
Tin Ho, I thank you so much for your advice on replacing pigment cart with dye cart. My printer black pigment clog seems to be fully cleared. When is it safe to install the pigment cart again?
I love my printer again. :-)
Update: after soaking for a week, the colors all work fine. Getting ready to fill a cart with dye ink to use instead of pigment black. I'll repost with the results.
BTW all you guys ROCK!
