Thanks, Fotofreek. Actually, it was Neil's Inkjet page that got me to this forum and introduced me to the concept of cleaning the printhead and carts. However, now that I've been reading these threads and links that you and others on this forum have pointed me to, it's all coming together and...
I just checked and it seems they do use the same printhead - QY60043. Updates/differences in the i960 vs i950: the 960 is a little faster; has the manual 4x6 paper tray, 2 USB ports, an updated PictBridge standard, different cosmetics, and a driver which permits viewing print details in Print...
A tech friend has taken a look at the printer and diagnosed a circuitry/chip problem - he explained it in detail but it was above me. So, feeling my limitations and that I just didn't have it in me to try and tackle that problem, I went online and found a refurbished Canon i960 for $79 at...
Grandad35 - I am really impressed that you have developed such an extraordinary ability to analyze color through separating the color channels. I work in media for the Web, but I have to confess that you are going into territories that are very new and unfamiliar to me - I'm trying to learn and...
Thank you so much for analyzing the images and giving me your feedback. That's very interesting. When I changed the carts last week, the cyan and the magenta were the first ones I replaced and the problem seemed to start after that. I think I'll buy another magenta cart today and see if the...
That's great - thank you! I've posted them on the server and here are the links:

Well, I checked the carts and I think they're all working because the ink levels have been going down - of course, I'm just assuming that if ink isn't getting out, the levels wouldn't change! Unfortunately, the only discarded cart that I had was the Cyan and when I put that back in and printed...
Sent the previous response before I saw the new posts. I have done the nozzle patterns check and they seemed to be the same as one I had done a few weeks ago when everything was working okay. Re Grandad35's post - the green casts don't seem to be related to the dark or light shades in the...
Wow - I'm learning more on all this than I ever thought I'd need to know! Thanks for all your help.
I'll definitely check the carts out when I get home this evening.
Thank you for your reply, Fotofreek.
The cartridges that I changed were PhotoCyan, Cyan, PhotoMagenta and Magenta, though the latter was put in after the problem started. Not sure if I have the old cartridges that I replaced - I'll have to look in the trash when I get home! Where are the exit...
Well, unfortunatley I spoke too soon. The green gremlin is back! I got up this morning to print out another photo and the problem has returned. It doesn''t matter which paper I use - tried the Canon, Staples and regular letter. The green hue and banding is present on all of them. I'm sooo...
Can't believe it. I decided to have one last attempt with the printer. I had been using the Staples photo supreme paper so went on the hunt at home for some Canon photo paper to try and finally found a sample pack. It printed out perfectly! Hours of cleaning, research, frustration and who knows...
Help!
Printer was working just fine and then I put in some new Canon ink cartridges. After that, my prints have these greenish bands, always in the same place no matter what the picture. Ran the cleaning cycle a few times and alligned the printhead nozzles. Problem persisted. Called the local...
