So, I am back to the forum. My iP4000 died and I had to send it to the recycling heavens. I have bought a new iP4300 which uses the cartridges with the micro chip in it. My first attempt to re-fill and re-use was met with "cartridge empty" windows. I had to buy a new one, which now prints fine...

P.S. to my last post- A friend just gave me an HP 7960 printer. The cartridges were $76 for a pack of three. What a rip-off. Is this printer any good? Should I keep it and trash the iP4000?
