Epson SC-P800 pigment printer converted to dye ink printer

Of course it's purely a matter of taste, but a photo on glossy paper looks to me like an advertising poster - mass-produced goods. On slightly textured semigloss/luster/pearl, however, I get the wow effect. I was primarily interested in pigmented inks for matte papers, as they coat the paper...

Epson SC-P800 pigment printer converted to dye ink printer

While I was wondering whether to change to pigmented ink to enhance print quality, you go the other way round. Since I do not believe that light inks improve print quality visibly, your printer is now alike to my Epson ET-8550. Maybe I simply stick to what I have. :)

Wear of Spectrometers - Buying advice

Colorphotometer, generally used as cheap device to profile your monitor, use/used organic color filters. These degenerate with time. So I found that my "Spyder 3" is useless today. Colorspectrometer dont use such organic optical filters and should not lose precision with time. So I would stick...

Epson L8180 (ET8550) no Ultra premium luster paper type

I don't want to defend Epson's behavior. They also only offer their own media to choose from. Then you just have to select the right paper and the corresponding color profile will be set automatically. Even beginners can manage this. But for the advanced user this is not very intuitive. What is...

Epson L8180 (ET8550) no Ultra premium luster paper type

You should differentiate between color profiles and media settings in the driver. The media settings are used to define how much ink is used, thickness of paper etc. The color profiles are used to get the best possible color rendition (mixture of base colors). While there is a huge difference...

Epson L8180 (ET8550) no Ultra premium luster paper type

The german printer driver does not offer lustre paper either. I use the "premium semigloss" paper setting.

    Aldi Expertiz Photopaper - Germany

Nobody answers the phone at euro-print. I will try it again tomorrow.

    Aldi Expertiz Photopaper - Germany

I'm afraid it's a matter of transportation costs. They only ship containers to large resellers (Amazon). Maybe the Belgian market is not lucrative (big) enough to ship to a belgian warehouse.

Paper Quality: Cheap vs. Expensive for Photo Printing

Much better skin tones. Maybe reduce saturation and play with color balance (white light). But image enhancements are a little out of scope of this forum... Some remarks: - The hat ist full in clipping (all full white, lost information). Try to scan with lower exposure/brightness. - 5 MP out of...

Paper Quality: Cheap vs. Expensive for Photo Printing

I found a paper swatch (already printed on) helpful to get an impression on papers. For example https://www.fine-art-papiere.de/fotospeed-musterbuch-bedruckt-din-a5-querformat.html Fotospeed offers rolls to most (all?) of their papers. It is difficult to comment on a small close up of a print...

Paper Quality: Cheap vs. Expensive for Photo Printing

The typical answers to this question found in most forums are "try and test on your own" and "it depends". This is somewhat disappointing whilst understandable. At the time I am testing dozens of papers looking for lower/mid priced but good quality papers. I have the hardware to profile and...

    Aldi Expertiz Photopaper - Germany

I took a closer look at the Expertiz papers and I have to correct myself. These papers are PE coated, you cannot write with a pencil on the smooth/slippery backside. Today I printed some dozens of greeting cards and I'm quite happy with the results.

    Newbie to "quality" photo paper

When profiling new papers, I save both types, V2 and V4. In fact I cannot see any differences when color-proofing with V2 vs. V4. So V2 seems to be fine. Fotospeeds profiles are of V4 Type, so I cannot compare them via IccView...
