I soaked the printhead overnight on paper towel saturated with Pharmacist's cleaning solution. This improved magenta channel but killed cyan which looked badly deflected.

Thanks for the advice RiverRat01. Yes, vent ports are open. I also tried using self resetting cartridges filled with OEM ink but the problem persists.

To print pure colours, you could try Quad Tone Rip (50$ shareware) and one of the supported Epson printers. QTR must be set in calibration mode.
Depending on the output you need, you might have to create your own flush image.
