If nothing else kills you, old age will. Remember the three score and ten estimate. I understood that PLA was not a problem and ABS should be vented outside where it can kill the weeds. Two years ago I stopped smoking cigarettes thanks to the Vape effect (tastes terrible, still follow smokers...

    3D Metal Printing

Interesting, I agree but having looked at their 'prints' on their website there is a lot of post print tidy up to do. They look worse than my original PLA prints (and they were pretty bad). Anyway, don't have a spare kiln so will wait for the next generation. In three years time you'll probably...

Resurrection - well partial cure anyway.

Beautiful may be too extreme an adjective. Calm, quiet, rural certainly, forgotten may be apt. The problem is if you want to buy anything other than daily essentials, potatoes, carrots, coffee, Glenmorangie, etc. then you have to travel or use the dreaded internet. We have no 'Tech' second hand...

Resurrection - well partial cure anyway.

How the heck did that happen??? Very easily, Doctor said "Ok Lets have a look at the incision. Just lean over." I was sitting next to his desk, the Hospital did say avoid low chairs, well I'm 6'5" so all chairs are too low for me but apparently, no definitely, low chairs are verboten for new...

Resurrection - well partial cure anyway.

Greetings and felicitations to one and all... I had just bought and assembled a rather interesting Anet A2 when I had to have a hip replacement (nothing to do with the labours involved in screwing up ..oops screwing together the A2), more to do with aging bones and a life of climbing masts and...

    Shadows printing - Anet A2

As stated previously, the 3D printer's processor does one hell of a lot of work. It has to co-ordinate three stepper motors to deposit the melted filament at the correct spot (XYZ). It is also checking the temperature of the extruder and (usually) the bed. HOWEVER, the motherboard supplied with...

    Shadows printing - Anet A2

Too much tension in any mechanical drive train can cause problems - if it's the x axis travel where the problem is occurring then it is certainly worth 'tweaking'. Also dont know if this site will help but they do list a series of print problems with images etc...

    Need a New 3D Printer...

I know it's an old thread but been working tooooo hard. I thought the fun was in building the thing (and continual modifications - according to thingyverse) ?

    Shadows printing - Anet A2

I'm a complete novice so can offer very little help but noticed that you asked for help and haven't had any replies. I've just built an A2 and had to get my own bolts and T nuts because the ones supplied (bolts) in the kit would not lock up correctly (hit the back end of the extrusion ) also the...

Was it the masks or just the fact that people were walking around in CA; thought it was wheels only over there.

70 proof sounds like a good Single Malt, it takes years to mature.. When I was a sprog my first Saturday job was helping my dad maintain some lorries, grinding off the edge of brake shoes to prevent squeaking was a job I used to do on a very large grindstone with no guard, no safety glasses and...

    Anet A2 The Build Experience

To conclude this post I must say that having created (my first CAD realisation) a small four part box 9two 'Us' and two flat end plates I am bloody impressed with the accuracy and quality of this printer. Despite all the challenges of bolting the Anet together it's pretty bloody good so far...

Warnings to all ! BUY a large stock of 3D printers & filament (stock up to the gunnels ) now before the H&S community Printer: 1) require certified printer technician to operate said machine 2) require full time H&S officer present at all times 3) Require full annual inspection, calibration...

    Anet A2 Actually Working....

Well, after turning the hot bed upside down (ie the warnings, led & shiny surface facing the floor, covering the other side with blue masking tape (as recommended by someone somewhere on t'internet I downloaded Cura 14.07 loaded up some filament (that took some doing as it isn't easy to get the...

What filament to try first ?

Grrr............ Been googling too much. Apparently PLA absorbs moisture and not only does it bugger things up when printing as per the posts by many but it carries on absorbing moisture once 'produced'. From what I understand drying out the filament may render it useable but it does not...

    Anet A2 The Build Experience

Don't think it will replace the golf (not in summer anyway), nice if it replaced mowing the grass but I daresay other family members will have something to say about that. Still waiting for the PLA , or is that something to do with (ex) Gadaffi ? Have decided the first mod of the A2 will be to...

What filament to try first ?

Re The Hat's recommendation (always be ready to blame someone if [when] things go wrong) have ordered a bucket of PLA from 3DQF nice to be able to support British Manufacturers, they're an endangered species. Now the A2 is built just waiting for some filament to commission it.
